lot...

do you mean discogs?

offline uzim on 2004-07-12 20:13 [#01274438]

http://www.allmusic.com

brokephones > well, whenever i try to click a link or a
button on this site, it does nothing. nothing at all. the
"hand" cursor just becomes the normal cursor, nothing even
loads.

rottenwool > discogs.com isn't as good nor as complete as
AMG.

browser.

maybe it's still under construction

qrter > no, internet explorer - but the crappy mac os x

you're right, IE works, netscape/mozilla doesn't. amg &
discogs are both good sites used for different purposes, and
both seem to have had major upgrades recently.

and AMG have added 30s samples to some (most?) tracks.

So far, it's a piece of trash. Blue trash. It's slow, comes
up with many errors (though this is probably only
temporary)... and not as user friendly. Who's bright idea
was it to force you to click on ''reviews'', then click on
the review you want to read, and then click on ''show more''
when you want to actually read the review? Fucknuts.

The stars are also miniscule. Sometimes I can't tell the
difference between a half-star and an empty one.

The old one is still up, and coincidentally, still much much
better.

Type in ''allmusic.com'', sans the www.

btw ie on macs is just crazy and crappy.
i (and everyone else) has a lot of trouble
ensuring compatability with that browser
unless you have a mac sitting beside you
while coding. it is a compleatly different
codebase that win ie. which is strange..
ie in generall is such a mess. anyone who
creates standard compliant sites will know
how often you have to use little hacks and
work arounds just 'spoon feed' ie into
displaying things as it should.
ive heard people proclaim that ie/mac is the
most standards compliant browser yet.
whatever.
i hate ie....
oh....uh..when was css1.0 standardized?
8 years ago? and for what reason has
microsoft failed to impliment it correctly
in their products?

Aww, isn't that cute? You now have to pay to get the all the
information about an artist. Well that's just superb.

And now the old AMG is down. Forever. I feel like a close
friend just died.

Somene told me, and I quote and paste-

''You now have to pay for premium member to see album awards
and chart positions and "expanded album/artist info". Blegh.
I guess it's not that big of a deal. I'll probably become a
member just because.''

I can't be arsed to surf this buggy wreck until the bugs are
sorted out. Can anyone confirm this?

It's gay.

They made the information more removed. I liked before I
could just search, and it would bring up all the artists
releases. Now they have all these stupid tabs. Blah.
Fucking idiots.

I agree totally...They ruined a GREAT THING.
The whole listing of discographies included in the info page
was nice, now everything is whacked out.

PISS OFF AMG, WHAT A WASTE

Kind of like the new Discogs. It's such a bother to select
what you want to search for. I used to have no trouble just
searching and getting what I wanted, without using that
stupid menu thing on the left.

Tabs for bio, discog etc = retarded (especially when it's a
small artist with no boi, so a search just comes up with a
blank space on the main page)
"Read more..." option on bios, reviews etc = retarded. Can't
I just fucking read it?

Urgh. Neither of them of big problems but they make it a
thousand times more awkward to use. I used to spend ages
every day just looking around the site, reading reviews etc.
I've not done that once since the new design. It's just so
awful. :(

offline Anus_Presley on 2004-07-16 05:17 [#01277806]

You click to rread the rreview of an album... then you have
to click 'rread morre' to rread the rreview in full, then
once you've clicked 'rread morre' the trrack listing fucks
off.

I could care less about the new format, doesn't bother me.
But they also got rid of the related artists function which
is the main engine behind my music research and purchases.
That's just unforgivable.
