Explosions in the Sky

If you haven't had the pleasure, I strongly recommend you
check this band out if you are at all into Mogwai, GYBE! or
Sigur Ros. Their latest, Earth is not a Cold Dead Place, is
my favorite non-electonic album of this young century.
Absolutely brilliant work. I don't think music can get
anymore more moving than this. The first track on their
previous album, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those
Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever, features the most
intense guitar riff I've ever heard.

Pimping complete.

the new sigur ros is pleasant sounding. and no vocal wailing
either.

Hmmmm.... never really understood the hype... both their
albums can't hold a candle up to godspeed or sigur ros IMO.
I was waiting for them to 'click', but realised I just don't
think they're very good. :s

i agree. i gave them a go, but i don't think they are of the
same standard. i found their music a bit boring really.

lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven is my
favorite Godspeed record. they are certainly two of the
best to come out in recent years.

Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Ros are my favourite live
bands, they are amazing.

There's something in the air there
makes you go insane
brings you back to me
it's been so long
all that i have to do
is live along
it's coming coming down
over me
do you want to see
the explosions in my eye
do you want to see
the reflection of
how we used to be
beauty lies
in the eyes of anothers dreams
beauty lies
lost in anothers dream
it's coming coming down
over me
do you want to see
the explosions in my eye
do you want to see
the reflection of
how it used to be

hey baby
hey sweetheart
hey fox come here
hey beautiful
come here sugar

I saw them a few months ago too in a tiny bar-type place.
They were awesome.

Cool band, I get a nice, positive, uplifting feeling from
their music and themes that I don't get when I listen to
some of their peers. They make-a me feel gewd.

nothing can top "lift your skinny fists.."
..but explosions in the sky are a very good band. very good
live.. their tracks are like highly concentrated nice
melodies..

"highly concentrated nice melodies" that's a good way to
describe them. i think that's the main reason i listen to
them more than GSYBE. they're not necessarily better. but
i find that i listen to 80% of the music i do in the car.
on shorter drives i like the music to really kick in
immediately as Explosions in the Sky songs tend to do, while
GSYBE's music tends to feature slower build-ups.

quibble, quibble. they're both excellent bands. i hope i
get to see them live someday. Godspeed didn't tour Seattle
in support of Yanqui UXO and i was out of town when
Explosions played.

Herb,

can you feed my cats this weekend?
like on saturday night.
I'm going camping.

i thought we agreed not to discuss our personal lives in
public.

My cats! Man! My Cats!

they will starve!

THEY WILL STARVE TO DEATH ! ! !
unless you feed them.

My cat likes to chew on my ear. It tickles. I like bologna
sandwiches.

i've tried listening to them a couple of times because of
all the comparisons with gy!be and sigur ros, but frankly i
didn't like it at all. ophecks nailed it: i dislike them for
the reasons he likes them.

That pseudo-march bullshit the drummer does annoys the piss
out of me.

I didn't care for them.
