a lot of you are surprisingly reactionary when it comes to
music... the time when one could consider themselves
"cutting-edge" for listening to IDM is over... the genre has
become domesticated as fuck... i think labels like warp
realize that they just can't keep putting out the same thing
which is precisely why they've signed on stuff like !!!,
which is precisley why Andrew Weatherall took 2LS in a
different direction this go around, which is precisely why
we have Lexoleum (which is just as likely tp put out
something interesting these days than mu, or rephlex, or
skam, or warp these days)... labels like warp have really
found themselves between a rock and a hard place lately, as
there are just as many fans complaining that it isn't going
anywhere as there are those complaining that they don't like
the direction in which it is going.... haha

I usually like planet mu, but lately (as qrter mentioned)
there are way too many gabba/amen-break releases being shat
out. I'm so sick of it. And I'm sick of VSnares. The last
couple of good µ albums we're edIT and Lexuanculpt. I
didn't really enjoy Ambulance either, but I only listened to
the samples, perhaps I should give it another listen. Skam
is doing ok, imo. I enjoyed the Shadow Huntaz/Funckarma
thing, although Vampire EP was a dissapointment with
exception of "dont got" (which i just bought that one track
off bleep.com).

It's just different tastes, I think there is nothing wrong
with Shitmat, !!! or Shadow Huntaz. It took me a while to
get used to !!! and Shadow Huntaz but it was more then worth
it when I did. I think Collapse of the Wave Function is
shit, what's that got to do with dancehall? I liked Black
Devil but why would I buy the three-format version when the
promo spans most of that anyway?

As for gabber and other hard repetitive tracks that most
disregard on here, they have been giving me the most
enjoyment of late as well as being the area of techno I'm
working with myself recently with my friends. We are still
hoping to perform/release this kind of music around here but
although it goes down well locally with those who just want
fun, mention it here and I'd just be blasted. Shame.

Everybody has different tastes, those tastes change each
day, people like to complain and even if you think it's shit
someone else will love it. I'm quite happy I can appreciate
such music. Out of all labels I think Mu are the ones in
control of things right now. Rather then panicking that
Brittany will drop some drill I'll just buy/do what I like
rather then wasting time moaning and let others do the same.

surprise you again.

my favorite mu artists:

venetian snares
ambulance
leafcutter john
joseph nothing
the gasman
nautilis

not everything has to be super-innovative and original. just
take time to enjoy where things are at the moment.

when chris clark came out with clarence park I think that

been dissapointed recently also

I think hellfish is pretty damn good, I don't give a shit if
it is gabba/breakcore

gabba/breakcore?

because of those awful 'yo yo yo'-voices. I can't
stand them. I agree the beats are often quite good. Look at
Smojphace: Nice beats, AWFUL vocals. imo

smojphace isn't gabba... dunno what it is, but it isn't
gabba.
Ragga or jungle or something. I'm not into that so I don't
know.

to me, it's gabba. It's very broad, but it all has the same
sound/men-voices/jungle/gabba/blablabla.... who invented
that term??

The Dutch. Musically it refers only to the Dutch 190-220 bpm
bouncy Techno sound originating in Rotterdam. Your use of it
sickens me.

nobody mentioned '000 - upon cycles'

which has 2 or 3 annoying tracks you have to dig through to
find a lot of killer ones. It's like a mix of nautilis
melodies and richard devine crazyness. lovely.
