Hey, I've got some cash that is burning a hole in my
pocket and i want to buy a couple of GREAT albums. They
don't have to be recent, just really fucking unbelievably
good. I Got the Notwist's "Neon Golden" a couple of days ago
and i dig it. Thinking about Four tet, Broken Social Scene,
etc.

you don't have a list of your cds somewhere?
that'd make recommendations easier.

No, sorry. If I already have it'll be ok. My top three
albums of all time:
1. Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
2. Ween - the Mollusk
3. Autechre - Chiastic Slide/Confield (tie)

Animal Collective! I've been looking at that Cd online as
of late. All I heard were a few clips on Amazon - sounded
really cool. I read a complaint that the first few songs are
great and then it just sort of dies. How would you reply to
that?

first couple of songs sound kinda pop-ish...especially coz
of the vocals. depends on the listener and his preferences i
guess. i like the 2nd part of the album more :)

I'm way to poor for that - anyway, there a a number of
albums I have my eye on, so I wouldn't want to take that
risk right now.

I appreciate it, but you've pretty much sold me on it. I'll
probably walk down to the local music shop and pick it up
tomorrow. By the way, have you heard Neutral Milk Hotel yet?

fucking Miracle in my opinion.

You seem pretty open-minded in your musical tastes, so I
think you might dig it. Alot of people have trouble with his
voice, but that is one of my favorite things. Be sure to try
and catch the lyrics - they are sort of wacked out, but they
speak to me like pretty much nothing else ever has.

three"...hmm, sounds wicked...a bit crazy.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that. The guy was raised in
some crazy speaking in tongues/serpent handling/ cyanide
drinking church. "God" and is mentioned a couple of times on
the disc and "Jesus Christ" once. I'm not religious
whatsoever (the opposite actually), but his "views"
(whatever they may be) don't bother me. He is not preaching
in any way, shape, or form. It's just fucked-up and
beautiful.

cruisy latin bossa nova / lounge music... they guy is a
genious... did "girl from ipenema" which you may have heard

can i also recommend John McLaughlin and the Mahuvishnu
Orchestras "My Goals Beyond"... a very emotional, gentle yet
intense jazz listen.

Ok, I dig jazz, although I usually go more for the early to
mid 60's avant-garde stuff from Coltrane and Ayler. I'll
check it out - thanks.

my goals beyond is from 68... it has a version of miles
davis' Blue in Green too, which is nice... have you heard
Ascension by Coltrane? if you havent thats a must... its one
of his Impulse free jazz releases

It's weird, but no. I've been meaning to pick it up for
years now but I never got around to it. I guess I was a
liile afraid that because of the amount of musicians playing
in the session that it would just devolve into "noise". My
favorite Jazz records of this period have to be the last two
studio albums that Coltrane composed - Stellar Regions and
Interstellar Space (the duet with Coltrane and drummer Ali)

Hella's "Total Bugs Bunny on Wild Bass" and that is some
crazy shit right there - check it out.
