shroom-attack made me quit drugs for a while

Thursday the 17th I did shrooms with my friends. Trip went
good, and we where all high like kites with the bag of weed
I also got my hands on that day.
So like 2 hours after i took the shrooms I got a little
nausea. Thinking that I have puked a lot on shrooms, it
didn't really bother me, and I headed for the bathroom.
When I came out there I looked the door and sad next to the
toilet, but as I sat down, I began to feel something was
wrong. I had suddenly lost all strength, and had to fight to
get up on my feet again.
The nausea then disappeared, but while looking at myself in
the mirror, I started noticing how everything started to
fade to black.
I was thinking fast, and unlocked the door and called for a
friend of mine. He then came in the door and catched me as i
passed out.

the next seconds felt like all thoughts in my head was
flying around uncontrollable. Very much like my idea of
hell.

I awoke, drenched with sweat, and with my very choked friend
next to me. He said that I had gone into cramps, and that my
pupils were fixed and dialated [sp?].

Since that Thursday I have taken it quite easy. I have also
quit the weed (again...for the 14th time or so).

Every time i try to think about taking drugs, the glimpse of
my reflection in the mirror, fading away, makes me very
scared.

It felt like death

well i would say yes, but i have taking DXM-pills soo many
times now that the sight of the pills gives me nausea....so
my guess is that I won't touch shrooms again.

I have done:
Schrooms ~ 15-20 times
DXM ~ 100-150 times (no kidding)
Weed ~ who counts?
Speed ~ 10 times over a single week...haven't touched it
since
Coke ~ 2 times and it sucks
Rufies ~ 5 times
Poppers ~ a whole day once
Morfin-like pills ~ 10-20 times

If shrooms make you feel bad, then stay away from them for a
while. Simple as that. I was shit scared of them after i had
my first dodgy trip, but i left it a couple of months, had a
smaller dose next time, and now i like 'em again.

yeah...but it's like, I have a job now (where i'm pretty
much allowed to smoke weed in my lunchbreak though) and i'm
pretty frustrated over that I actually have lust towards
weed. I really want to smoke weed, but not on the basis of
being addicted like that.
The addiction is often hidden away in boredom and the fact
that almost all my friend are smoking

I know the feeling... if i'm bored in the evening i'll be
gagging for a smoke or a few beers. If the majority of your
friends smoke, and you REAAAALLY like Teh Spliffage, then
just take it easier for a while, no smoking until you
hallucinate. Calming it down for a bit often helps when the
drugs are starting to fuck with your head a bit, but you
don't really want to stop.

nah, don't let it put you off. just make sure you don't take
too many. the same thing happened to a friend of mine when
we were shrooming a few months back. it's grim, but it
happened because he took far too many. just be sensible and
take some and see what the effect is - if you're not feeling
it then take some more. be sensible, yo :)

I've done mushrooms more times than I can remember - But -
The last time, I was at a friends house, just smoking weed
before going into town, hate a few mushrooms I had at the
time - Just a few every couple of minutes for some reason -
Not really looking to get anything more than a subtle edge
to add to the night... Sometimes when I go out on a little
acid or a few mushrooms I can be really funny...

Anyway, I kind of got into a dilema of "am i too warped to
be going into town now?" when the time came to head off....
This sent my head into a spiral - I had only taken 1/10th
what I had taken in the past, so wasn't expecting much.

But I ended up driving round half panicing and sketched out,
not knowing what to do.. Ended up going home and hiding in
bed - every minute felt like an eternity, i was thinking at
300mph... Nasty nasty experience...

Just state of mind as far as I could tell - Had a similar
thing on a very small amount of acid when a friend kept me
waiting for 5 minutes for a lift... Just the littlest thing
can get you into a negative thought spiral when you're
vulneraable like that.

The first time I did mushrooms me and a few friends had been
picking enough for 5 of us all day - 3 of them bottled it
anyway, so we ended up eating about 200 psilocybins each -
Was so warped you couldn't even have a bad thought as far as
I could tell - you couldn't hold on to a single thought for
more than a second anyway... just laughed so hard it hurt
for about 5 hours - really felt like i was utterly insane -
everything looked like pure 60's psychedelic album covers -
loved it though - felt great afterwards - like a new man...

I think leaving psychedelics on a bad note may be a
mistake...

Thats pretty normal for taking a big dose of shrooms, how
many grams did you have?

Anyways, the first hour or two always feels like you're
dying. Thats just your body working out the mushroom
poision. After that its all uphill for about 6 hours.

yeah we probably will still do it, we're usually
hyper-sensible whenever we're doing something none of us
have done before, the result of over-education probably.
the most likely scenario is that we'll be too cautious to
actually have enough and end up sitting around waiting to
trip.

We've been looking around various forests, fields, etc..
before, with little success.

There was (a few years ago) a very famous field in Amersham,
near High Wycombe/Aylesbury area - Where horses grazed -
Where there were literally hundreds of thousands of the
things.

But if you look around you find them almost everywhere
around late August - Just rarely in large enough numbers to
make it worthwhile.

It was a nice way to have a first trip, picking your own -
You'd spend all afternoon with a few friends in the
countryside, picking away - Then as it got to evening and we
were driving back, we were all in a pretty good, pretty
fresh feeling mood - Perfect state of mind to do
psychedelics in I suppose.

Some of my best acid and mushroom experiences have involved
large quantities of alcohol and weed though - We all got in
a habit of going out drinking all night - Then turning up at
a friends house about 1am and drinking pot after pot of
mushroom tea, and smoking weed.

I couldn't imagine having a bad experience on mushrooms when
you're kind of drunk and in a good mood - It cussions the
effects a lot, but it sort of allows you to trip really hard
without having to worry about your state of mind so much.

Back then we had a friend who used to pick them in Wales -
And she'd come back with dustbin bags full - Like a whole
corner of an upstairs room was just giant 5ft bags of
mushrooms... They'd still go after a few months though.

You can buy those Hawaian mushrooms and Philosophers Stones
and things at most markets in this country it seems -
Although I've never tried them - I don't think they're
supposed to be quite in the same league as psilocybins, but
I've had friends tell me they are totally crazy trips
anyway.

Yeah that's where i get mine... as far as i know they ARE
psilocybe mushrooms (cubensis, copelandia, tampanensis etc).
I've revised my opinion on philosopher's stone truffles
after hearing a few bad stories and having a nasty trip of
my own... i've grown to really like them. Nice
"controllable" trip, very happy and "thinky".

Yeah that's the one thing that really puts me off from

wrong kind. If you ever get into doing it, i'd take one of
those mushroom identification guides, just to be sure.

i've never had worse trips than those that involve mixing
mushrooms and weed. what's frightening about a bad trip is
that you come away knowing what it's like to be insane and
with realisations that insanity isn't too far from reality.
that feeling of total mental helplessness stays with you for
the rest of your life. alway's lingering, just below the
surface, in the back of your mind. i fear that once
you've been to place like that it's easy to go back because
you know how to recreate it. for a particular type of
person who may be feeling completely depressed and hopeless
insanity can suddenly become a viable alternative to
suicide.

Tell me about it! I do get occassional patches of that - I
can't tell whether it's acid flashbacks or not - It
actually, wierdly enough, seems to be a symptom of my
hayfever...

I get all my hayfever symptoms, like dizziness, sinus
symptoms, etc... then i'll start questioning real deep
thought patterns and things about the nature of reality -
driving myself mad!

Feels just like one of those too hectic acid trips.

You can definetly find a lot of meaning and inner peace in
that kind of knowledge - But sometimes it can really screw
you up too - I often prefer blissful ignorance! Which is why
I used to like MDMA so much after taking so much LSD.

it's worth mentioning that i've never had a bad trip on
shrooms or acid, just the that dread combination of shroom
and herb. it's quite tough to acurately describe the
feeling of a bad trip, but for me the battle that was going
on in my head seemed like something like this: the shrooms
were trying to get me to think of everything i could
possibly think of at once. the weed was only allowing me to
focus on one thought at a time. add the two together and you
can't believe the confusion. it's pure mental chaos.
thoughts are just speeding by you and crashing together
hundreds at a time. you can't make a bloody lick of sense
out of any of them. as a result they all seem evil, very,
very evil. no matter how innocent. i recalled laying on my
bunk bed as a child reading, a fairly harmless rememberance,
yet something about it was incredibly sinister.

it seemed in my best interest that i quit mixing those two
drugs after that. i'm not quite sure why, but it seemed
like a good idea at the time ;-)

the most terrifying experiences of my life were times i
mixed LSD and weed.

on one occasion, i was hallucinating so intensly, that i
couldn't tell whether my eyes were open or shut. i layed in
an upstairs bedroom but in my head i would get up, walk
downstairs, and fall into the basement, just to find myself
still laying in the upstairs bedroom. I'd get up again and
walk downstairs and fall into the basement again and again
and again. i was stuck in this loop for about 2 or 3 hours.
and i don't think i ever actually left the upstairs
bedroom.

i couldn't understand what anyone was saying to me, i
couldn't tell if i was talking or just thinking, and i
didn't know where i was in the house.

but i also had some of the most fun experiences of my life
on LSD even mixed with a little weed.

but i think the key is moderation. the bad trips always
involved taking TOO MUCH acid TOO FAST and smoking TOO MUCH
weed at the same time.

the good trips usually involved taking just a bit, letting
myself ease into it and when i felt good, i'd take a bit
more. always making sure i was in control.

but once i had the bad trip, it pretty much ruined every
trip i had after it.

Funnily enough, my best ever acid trip was when I was
smoking weed.

We had been to London to pick up a load of trips - Got back
about midnight and me and a few friends just stayed up -
Took one each and smoked some skunk bongs.

Totally liquid, surreal and enlightening - Felt myself melt
into the floor and surroundings; then into the town (where
I'd grown up); then into my past, etc... was like a became
one with everything - Remember that really well... Felt
quite charged too - Sometimes skunk and acid give me a real
energy.

Definetly a lot of early childhood memories that time -
Feelings and insights you completely loose touch with,,

Then later I started wondering "where am I?", as in where
was "I", not just my body, limbs and that, but my actual
self...

Then I realised I was floating a few feet behind my body,
connected at the head.

Loved every minute of it though - Just came out of it
feeling really alive and positive - That was back in the
days when every drugs experience seemed to go really well.

I did shrooms in bali and it was fantastic. They have so
many of those freaky looking statues, those really googly
eyed ones. mm i remember twisted bodies, which were actually
tree trunks and dragons which were big plants swaying in the
wind. ahh i love shrooms. Ill never do them intensly though.
Drugs are bad remember.

And also my eyes always get huge, like i have no colour in
my eye because my pupils so big. When im on shrooms
everything goes fisheye lense style. its the best.

in boulder, colorado, where everyone and their mother seems
to be carrying shrooms in their pockets, we used to shroom
and go hiking. ever since then, i've seen shrooms as an

always have the urge to go find a meadow or a mountain

Yup.

The only way to do shrooms is to go camping somewhere remote
with a few carefully selected friends and pick them
yourselves, then neck them whilst you get a big-ass fire
going.

I wouldn't even bring along any pre-recorded music - bring
musical instruments instead, because the experience is a lot
more fulfilling that way.

very fun, im liking mushrooms more then weed now, just

started going on a bad tangent last weekend shrooming - but
things got better as the night continued.

environment is really what makes the trips good, and the

Yeah there was a thread describing something similar on
another board.... i replied saying that these things happen
and rattled off a few instances of my mates blacking out in
cars, on the pavement, in chairs... and I realised that this
kinda shit has happened to my mates and myself a fucking
LOT.

LAst time a friend of mine blacked out in another's bathroom
and hit his head on the shower screen door, cracking it.
Quite surprised he didn't seriously cut his head up,
actually.
I've seen my best mate go into spasms in his car, I was
losing it and slapping him going "Fucking snap out of it!"
and he was going "I-I-I c-c-c-a-a-a-n't-t-t-t" but he did
after a bit.
Same dude freaked me out by passing out ina chair
continuously between fits of hysteria and mumbling about
having trouble holding onto sanity.
I've never seen anyone suffer ayn PERMANENT damage from
these kinda things though - you usually end up fine after a
good sleep, just make sure you're not driving when it
happens

Yeah man that shit is a BAD idea. I've seen myself turn into

hard to explain but it's like... Almost like you don't know

kinda intense.
