Tall and tan and young and lovely,
The girl from Ipanema goes walking,
And when she passes,
each one she passes goes "a-a-ah!"

i'd totally recommend you climber "down town loop", but this
one is a bit hip hopish...still plenty of acoustic guitars
and other jazzy elements...brilliant album!! (im sharing it
if you want to check)

and i love room wit a view compilation !!

cinematic orchestra is very tasty. and if you ever get a
chance to see them live.. jaw-droppingly tasty.

I'll just generally recommend jazz (possibly with SOME part
of the "lounge" classification in mind, but this is not ONLY
lounge)

joao gilberto
stan getz
irakere
arturo sandoval
chick corea
esbjørn svensson trio
thelonious monk
ornette coleman
charles mingus
atomic

one of app.10.000 compilations that is okay if you want good
groving background music:
hi fidelity lounge 2

though i do not really see the parallel between jazz and
"lounge", you should try miles davis - "in a silent way"
and, of course, "kind of blue".

'though i do not really see the parallel between jazz and

"lounge"
'

eh.. loungejazz is a genre of its own.. it's what everyone
refers to as "elevator music" or "muzak."

lounge-ish jazz, however, is kind of like the more downtempo
chilled songs by chick corea.

it's not really lounge, but i could totally see it being
played live in a smokey lounge, and it is more
ambient-groove oriented than most jazz--> Herbie Hancock's
Inventions and Dimensions with Willie Bobo and Osvaldo Martinez on
drums and bongos respectively... really interesting stuff...

speaking of them, what is their first album like? I own
Everyday, and Man with a Movie Camera, and love them both...
but I expect Motion to be less like a live jazz band, and
more "produced sounding" if you get what I mean... so I
usually pass on buying it...

anyone interested in jazz/lounge should as well check out
this compilation.

drunken mastah: of course i know what "loungejazz" is
supposed to be. i just think the term is a bit silly.

hmm... is the Tricky cover of Strange Fruit awesome and
adventurous? that could be really tasty or a complete
failure...

nothing about this cd is awesome or adventurous... it´s
just nice background music. nothing more... albums like are
always just mediocre, far from "really tasty" or " comeplete
failure".
the best track on that compilation - in my eyes - is the one
done by mj cole. the tricky remix is just okay.

well in the context of a chill comp, you're right, i
wouldn't expect much, but the idea of Tricky remixing
Strange Fruit doesn't really sound like it would fit on a
chill comp... unless he did a really terrible fucking job of
it... cause if his remix of strange fruit sounded just like
normal chill jazz, i would consider it a complete failure...

okay, i know what you mean... so, regarding the tricky
context, it´s a complete failure.
