Breakcore/Metalhead crossover

Lots of Metalheads are into breakcore.
My theory is that these metalheads are into grindcore metal
with its trademark uzi-style "blastbeat", and thus the
crossover is completed.

Poop on my theory please.

i not only agree, i think there will be a further blurring
of metal and breakcore styles in the future. it seems like
a perfectly natural evolution to me.

probably a lot of metalheads are into dillinger escape plan
and therefore got interested in aphex twin with their cover
of come to daddy. vsnares has sort of a post-metal swagger
to his style and artwork. not to mention the obvious
similarities between the intensity of aggressive electronic
music and death metal/grindcore genres.

Cannibal Corpse is an example of grindcore music.

Here's a direct link to some mp3s by them:
Pounded Into Dust
I Will Kill You
Devoured
Staring Through The Eyes Of The Dead(Live)

I remember hearing some tracks by snares that were very
grindcore influenced. So it was that train of thought that
prompted me to discuss it here.

and is it my imagination or does it seem like the vsnares
guy has blood or weird markings on his head in some of the
live photos? very ozzy osbourne/alice cooper/etc

personally i don't see it. at least not right now. maybe a
whiles from now, but who's to say these genres will still be
present. i have a good deal of friends into all sorts of
metal and i used to go to shows myself. merzbow released a
cd on relapse and that didn't bring much into either scene.

i'd stick with nine inch nails and radiohead as the main
crossover bands. the indie/electronic crossover is growing
though.

In this pic he is either wearing a headband with a logo
or some sort of sticker on the ole' forehead there.

for a little while there, in the early nineties, i thought
it was gonna be skinny puppy

i've heard cannibal corpse before, but i can't say i'm a
fan. i like certain death and grind bands, but mostly i
don't like them. my above post was pure speculation and
theory.

i do know what grindcore is. i like brutal truth, 324,
hellchild, multiplex, force, swarrrm, etc.

I'm not a metal or grindcore fan at all, far from it.
Perhaps I gave that impression unintentionally.

I am aware of the genre, and had a brief fascination with it
for about 2 days when my friend Danny and I downloaded a
bunch of grindcore tunes just out of pure sociological
fascination and morbid curiosity.

skinny puppy was still more of an industrial band dabbling
in metal on the process. i wouldn't call them crossover,
especially when compared to nin or kmfdm, who i think have a
lot more to do with electronica/metal crossover.

oh, i see. i thought you were trying to turn me on to it
:)

when i was a lot younger i thought all metal was dumb, then
i realized that it's the same as all other music - most of
any genre is dumb and/or imitators and that's the stuff you
shouldn't bother with. but if you can find the better bands
you can learn what it's all about and you can make more
educated selections.

and none of what i just said has anything to do with literal
"intelligence" - i was speaking casually.

with vsnares - he seems like the electronica equivalent of
"extreme metal" (or whatever you'd like to call it) to me.
very intense, scary music - very confrontational. the stuff
on doll and find candace especially. not to mention the
artwork - when contextualized as "vsnares art", trevor
brown's stuff is even more visceral and dark.

I just sense it in his style. I can feel an influence there
when I listen to snares.

I'm not even a snares fan anyway, It was just a thought.

The term "breakcore" is stupid because:

a) hardcore is based on breakbeats anyway
b) it is stupid
