 | "Minimalism is a style of art in which objects are stripped down to their elemental, geometric form, and presented in an
impersonal manner. It is an Abstract form of art which
developed as a reaction against the subjective elements of
 Abstract Expressionism.

Minimalist art frequently takes the form of installations or
sculpture, for example with Donald Judd, Dan Flavin, Carl
Andre, and Sol LeWitt. However, there are also a number of
minimalist painters, including Ellsworth Kelly, and Frank
 Stella."

 | As a presentation art, I do not find minimalism particularly interesting, but in practical application it seems much more
powerful. Minimalist architecture and design seem to say a
lot more than minimalist painting and wall art. (Art
Clause: But maybe I don't fully understand it.)

 | i like it... yet i certainly wouldn't pay the astronomic sums of money people can pay for a minimal piece of art even
if i had the money (maybe that decredibilizes the art a bit
in a way don't you think... and i'm sure if anyone not
well-known would have painted the minimal paintings
well-known painters did, (s)he would have just been laughed
at. hey, it probably happened, i wouldn't be surprised. that
totally decredibilizes the thing, just because you're
well-known doesn't mean you make better art).

by the way, good minimal music can be as much, and even
quite often more, affecting than "normal" music.

 | i think it's a powerful way to express oneself. we are overloaded with stimuli most of the time. minimal art can
be a shocking experience...it's like turning everything off
 for a second.

 | what's that quote from, rarndaraki?
i don't agree, of course. some of the best innovations and
ideas in human history have been the simplest (and of
course, the inverse is true as well). i think it's rather
strange to marginalize something because it's simplistic,
but clearly many, if not most, people have the tendency to
 do so.

 (hahahaha!).
