it's a common misconception.

you don't know what you're talking about, you are no
schizophrenic, you're just being bored posting stupid
threads about something you think is cool talking about,
schizophrenia is a serious disease you shouldn't joke, or
jest, about. Peace

*DISCLAIMER*

i disassociate myself entirely from -crazone's post..
that was not my point at all.
i was simply pointing out an inaccuracy.
not passing moral judgement on what is or isn't acceptable
subject matter for your jokes.

and, if you read my post, i wasn't talking to you either.

now, however, i am.

i just wanted to make sure that we were disassociated as i
don't agree entirely with your outburst.

as there's always a victim in any joke, i'm pretty sure
you've laughed at some fairly tasteless stuff in your
lifetime. almost everyone has. we all have boundaries too,
which are usually definied by life experience (ie. if your
brother has cerebal palsy there's a chance you won't find
'spastic' jokes very tasteful) - but you have to be careful
about condemning people too quickly, or taking things out of
context, else you just end up looking like a hypocrite.

sorry but the main reason I overreacted is that I work with
schizophrenic and psychotic people, the pain and shit they
are going true made me say all this moral words, but you're
right : what would we be without humor in live :)

quite a funny rorschach-image you've got there, sir.

of course you react to jokes like that when you know people
who are affected by it, and in the same fashion, the rest of
us, who doesn't, and are distanced from it, can joke about
it and be "funny." It is what the media like to call
"goldfish-syndrome." (I don't know what it really is in
english, but the translation from norwegian would be this...
it is not referring to the goldfish itself, nor its short
memory (not directly at least), but the bowl a regular
house-kept goldfish lives in.. what is outside of the bowl
doesn't really matter to the goldfish, 'cause it doesn't
affect it.. also, it cannot see through the strangely-shaped
glass, which is half a lense from the inside...). In short:
most people don't care about things that doesn't affect them
or people they know...

example: while a story about a cat that ran away from home
50 years ago and returned to its owner may be good news to a
local newspaper, it's not something that would be reported
in a newspaper halfway across the globe.

a cat that manage to live over 50 years is an impossible
thing therefor i will be a quite intresting news for the
whole globe

i win!

yeah, i've worked with people in the past with all kinds of
shit going on. it's pretty hard to see that going on and
then understand how people can make light of it.

but sometimes its the only way to cope.. and you can find
that people in the harshest situations sometimes have the
wickedest sense of humour.

if you allow yourself to become overly sensitive to every
situation around you, it's possible never to laugh again.
but we just have to try and keep these things in context i
guess.

its all about approach.
