Recording Drums w MIDI in Reason

Hey, folks
How does one record beats from a synth to Reason? I
made some beats a while ago, now I have MIDI hookup and want
them in reason, but I can't get it figured out just how I
wanted it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Luke.

No, seriously-- I have beats on my synth-- I don't know how
to import them to Reason. :(

Does your synth transmit the beats as MIDI data?

I'm guessing u want the audio data, and not the midi data?

Ok looks like your not around, if your synth can transmit
the rhythm patterns as MIDI data then you should be able to
record these patterns into Reasons sequencer and play them
back with the module of your choice.
If the beats are just audio patterns then you can still get
them into Reason but you will need to record them first as
audio files and then put them into either Reason's sampler
or if u have Recycle, Dr Rex.

you're not being specific enough for us to help you mate.
there's two things that can be done here:

1) Actual MIDI hits can be transferred to your computer as a
MIDI file, and then can be imported into Reason so that the
MIDI data can trigger appropriate samples in a ReDrum or
Dr.REX machine. N.B. This will NOT sound like the drums on
your synth, because all you have done is transferred MIDI
data, not waveforms. You will get the same rhythm as the
drums on your synth, but that's all.

2) An actual waveform sample of the drums from your synth
can be recorded into your computer and then imported into
Reason as a loop, which can be triggered from the NN-19 or
NN-XT sampler (or any device capable of sample playback in
Reason). This will have both the rhythm and the exact sounds
from your synth.

Yeah but you went into more detail, between us we've got it
covered.

If you have any more problems check WWW.Synthzone.com
there's a good message board for technical querys

Is there a way to record the WAV through MIDI? Or must it
be line in? The problem with copying the beats through MIDI
is that my synth has 16 drum channels (with up to 64
different drum hit sounds) and Redrum does only 10 without
any monkeying. Thanks for the help though!

you can't record the wav through midi.. wav = audio, midi =
digital signals with info (tone, length, velocity, and
so-on). Midi doesn't make sound unless you assign a sound to
it.

If you want to export audio from your keyboard to reason,
you'll need to connect it with an audio-cable, record into
some recording-program, save the file, load it into one of
the samplers in reason and work from there.
