man, what's wrong with fink?

and yes, it depends on x11/gtk/etc. fink makes life easy.
'fink install nicotine'.

i also hate messing with X11

i don't see why they cant just make a native OS X
application for the slsk client

you mean 'sw'?

and you can tell it to install to /usr/local/ if you want.
seriously, it makes life really bloody easy. i'm not sure
why you're opposed to it.

they'll make a version when the author gets time; porting
things to cocoa isn't a straight forward operation. i'd
prefer a cocoa client too, but x11 works well.

Didn't Mlmac have slsk support?

if you want bsd/linux tools, you want it. if you don't, you
probably don't care.

for me, it's essential.

Hey xf, have you changed over to using museek? Despite what
people say, it does indeed work on OS X, with a bit of
fudging to get everything to compile.

never even heard of museek. i'll look into it; what's it do
that slsk doesn't?

museek is another client for slsk, by the same guy who
created nicotine.

here 'tis

when i'll eventually install mac os X 10.3 (haven't done it
yet because it needs reformating and i hate that), i hope
i'll find someone to tell me how to install this
fink-python-x11 weird stuff... is it dangerous? ' _ '

I didn't have to reformat when I upgraded to 10.3 ...

Using fink actually makes the process much easier and less
dangerous than it would be otherwise.

hmm. i tired o install all of the above exxcept museek. damn
it, when i installed fink ( i think? ) it took something
like ten hours to finish, and when it was "complete" it said
somehting about missing some vital part of the install which
only works if installed in order or something. damn, i
really gave it a shot but got nothing. i followed a step by
step guide when i tried, but to no avail! i need nerdier
friends i guess.

"fink" is a software package that makes it easier to
install/use open source linux/unix applications on Mac OS
X.
