i dunno, i can imagine it would be shit if was hyped up, as
with anything it'll NEVER live up to your expectations.... i
didnt know anything about it, just saw it sitting on my
shelf the other day and thought; i think i'll watch this..

It wasn't interesting. It didn't have anything to do with
math. It turned into some numerology crap. And it ended up
going nowhere. In short it was pointless. Requiem for a
Dream is much better.

I liked it fairly much. The screwdriver scene is etched into
my mind forever, and I liked the visual style... and of
course the soundtrack. I can hardly remember most of the
movie, though. Not a good sign.

I saw the very crap one.

i believe it was mostly hyped around here because of the
soundtrack which has ae on it (bunch of ae-geeks!!! ;d).

ive seen it only once, but i remember it made a similar
impression requiem made: a 'hip' movie (hip in the sense
that it's about things which are very fashionable nowadays:
drugs, computergeeks etc) seemingly inspired by music
videos.
besides the fashionable content there's nothing much to give
it a sense of evergreenness, i think.

the hype:

1

2

3

4

5

6

plenty more where that came from...

"its a film tho not a movie "

um, what's the difference? :)

i think the film addresses a modern form of paranoia
regarding technology, numbers, etc. that hardly any other
films take on. i can't think of any anyway.

requiem is a much better film, though, definitely. pi is a
bit rough around the edges...partly as an artistic choice,
but i think partly not.

9:47 hit return.

movies tend to just tell a story out and out, wheras films
usually have something to "get" in them. movies appeal to
bigger audiences, are often a lot more obvious in their
story and sequence. i'm not the best person to explain it
but there IS a difference. eg. alien is a film but aliens is
a movie.. thats not to say that one is more superior than
the other. that would just be dumb. but there is a
difference :)

so basically, films = artsy shit and movies = money
grabbing.
unfortunatelly i don't know alien and aliens, but i think i
get what you're saying :)

I liked how it was filmed. Good soundtrack. Interesting
characters.

What was the black womans name? Macy something? hmmm.

His next door neighbor was kinda hot. I remember thinking,
as i was watching the movie: "yeah i'd power fuck that girl"
and then theres that scene where you can hear her having
sex.

It was kind of funny to me as i just thought that seconds
before.

:D

Ima panda

i think it's great. all the numerology stuff is really
interesting. i like movies that uncover these kinds of
mysteries that have relevance to real life. using
mathmatics to present a suspense thriller has rarely been
done and this movie does it so precisely and flawlessly, it
is like rock-candy for you to crack your brain teeth on.

my only complaint is that sometimes the super-saturated
black and white is a little rough on my eyeballs. i think
it could have had a little less contrast and still had the
same effect but it seems that Arnofsky just loves to torture
his audience a bit so i guess it is consistant with his
style.

i think i heard that the super high contrast is meant to be
Black or White, not Black & White, as if its to represent
the concept of maths being only black or white
