I got a C in science. that was the best mark i got. all the rest were D's E's F's G's and i got a U for Religious Education (that's because i sat there and wrote one sentence, then couldn't be arsed)

I've just done my finals for uni. Amusingly, I did far less revision than I did for my GCSEs, even for my A Levels. When I'm interested in something, I read it once and that's it- I remember it for ever. If something bores me I have to cover it literally dozens of times. Scientific drawings and equations are the worse. No matter how I try to convince myself to learn them, a part of my brain says, "Fuck this, this is stupid- so long as I know which equation or standard, etc. to apply and how to find it out (from reference books, magazines etc.) it's irrelevant."
In most (technical) jobs, you know all the regularly occuring stuff off by heart and for those you learn equations/procedures over time. If it's a once in a blue moon occurence, no one thinks any less of you for checking a textbook/asking a senior person. If anything, it makes you appear less foolhardy.

LOL we need to break the cycle before it becomes established! tough on exams, tough on the causes of exams.
this june is the first in ten years that i haven't had end of year exams (graduated uni last year). it's quite weird having the structure of your year all messed up, exams have always been such a key fixture marking the beginning of summer.
guess i should probably enjoy it this year cos i'm starting a new 4 year course next year with exams every six weeks... arse.....

thanks oscillik : )
in france it's called "baccalauréat" (or simply "bac"), and in germany "abitur".
btw i like the danish grading system, it's pretty original... and to get a 13 must be extremely satisfying i guess!!
in france it's just marks /20, with /10 as the lowest pass grade.
