as i said in a previous round, fuck the whole 'what have they done recently' thing. assess your overall opinion of the artist, based on everything they have and have not done, and make your decision. i say 'have not done' because, whilst aphex has songs that are absolutely amazing, i don't find any of his albums to be unequivocally great in their entirety. autechre, on the other hand, have done very few songs i consider completely without merit. ae have the edge because their sound is deeper and subtler, and their production skills are flawless. |
