Favorite Kids Movies from the 80's!!! :)

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-10 01:35 [#00067895]

actually pick from any decade... I like Labrynth, and The
Never Ending Story... I just love watching those again, it
takes me back to the good old days as a kid...

I'm just bored, and so I'm trying to think up new and
interesting topics, so as not to annoy Xanatos... :)

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-10 01:35 [#00067896]

also, really off topic here... Regret by New Order is a
fantastic song!!!

Clobe Smith from over here on 2002-01-10 01:41 [#00067897]

iron giant. oh! and nightmare before christmas. but i'd
never show that movie to my kids, ... if i had kids. well,
not until they were older

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-10 01:43 [#00067898]

that Neverending Story theme song is pretty sweet too!!!

Hmmm, I meant that as sarcasm, but I'm actually serious now
that I think about it...

:)

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-10 01:48 [#00067899]

I was SO disapointed when the Neverending Story ended... I
really thought it was infinite, but it was only a couple
hours. :-(

Home Alone 1 is awesome! I used to want that to happen to
me, so I could kick some burglar arse!

Jarworski from Wales on 2002-01-10 02:46 [#00067907]

Fuck!

The Goonies
Transformers: The Movie
Lost Boys
Ghostbusters
Man, there's just too many.... I can't think!

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2002-01-10 02:50 [#00067908]

OH MY GOD! Transformers! I used to cry when Megatron killed
Optimus Prime! The color faded out, and his eyes dimmed...
sniff...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-10 03:13 [#00067911]

"Written on the pages, is the answer to the Neverending
Story... Ah ah ah, ah ah ah"

oh how I love that movie and the theme... I still remember
watching that for the first time, and a weird cartoon
version of The Hobbit way back when I was younger at my
Aunts house...

you know, if you took out the singing, and the cheap
synthetic sitar in this song, and stuck some cool Autechre,
or Aphex Twin style beats, you'd have a sweet ass song...
it's already cool, but only for nostalgia reasons...

mookid from afar on 2002-01-11 15:25 [#00068439]

can i mention the karate kid? That and the land before time,
takes me back to the days of penny sweets and trying to stay
up late.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-11 16:21 [#00068456]

yeah, The Karate Kid was good, and The Land Before Time, my
god I watched that so much... my mother used to teach grade
2 in school, and she always taught a section on dinosaurs,
and every year without fail she rented that movie to show,
and every year without fail I watched it like half a dozen
times... :)

Jonny G from fromland fromville on 2002-01-11 16:52 [#00068470]

Chrispy from the UK Plains of Noise on 2002-01-11 18:21 [#00068501]

The Dark Crystal was one of my Favourites...."Gelfling!"
Transformers the movie was good also...

I'm trying to think of 80's kids films.... Big with Tom
Hanks was always good!

Arent they doing a Goonies 2 with the old cast?

Monoid on 2002-01-11 19:58 [#00068545]

ooh, flight of the navigator. classic

Jedi Chris from Tatooine on 2002-01-12 15:29 [#00068784]

Flight of the Navigator was good, and I also liked Short
Circuit - remember Johnny 5!

Jedi Chris from Tatooine on 2002-01-12 15:35 [#00068785]

The Neverending Story was good, but I didn't really like the
sequals! Which is sadly the case with many films these days.
ET was another classic! I don't think I ever saw
Transformers the Movie, but saw plenty of the normal cartoon
series! Decepticon Starscream was better than Megatron!! :

Left so many out... the reason I didn't include BTTF was
because it wasn't really a KIDS film. But yeah Bill & Ted
was shit-hot as hell.

God, short circuit 2... I hate that movie. They spend the
whole movie showing how loveable that damn johnny 5 is. Then
they take an axe and a crowbar to the poor fuck in a scene
that would make the movie NC-17 if he were human. I walked
out of that theatre numb.

Anyway my mention is The Wonderful Land of Small. Wait, I
hate that movie too

That used to make me cry, but it is so uplifting when he
gets sprayed gold and made into a proper citizen of America.

My favorite kid's movie from the 80's is now Return to OZ.
It scared the hell out of me when I was a kid though. My
next fav's are the Neverending Story, Willow, and Willy
Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. all of which I recently
bought on DVD.
