even the warsaw stuff stands up to anything thats been done
recently. i hear their influence in a lot of 80s bands

i'm a fan... but i did like the squarepusher cover... not
because it was better or anything... but i thought his
breathy vocals were nice... as for a favourite joy division
song... probably something off of closer...

Love em. Production way ahead of their time. Fav tunes are
shadowplay and disorder both of unkown pleasures i think. i
recommend watching 24hour party people if ur into them!

Moby is also supervising the soundtrack to an upcoming film
about Ian's life... Moby, of all people.

Anyway, Joy Division is unbeatable. My favorite track is Day
of the Lords... and I'm one of those people that likes
Unknown Pleasures more than Closer.

its laugh at moby time:

anybody recollect last year when the animal-loving vegan
slaphead bent down to stroke a cat and it scratched him in
the eye? he had to go to hospital for a tetanus injection
and possibly some stitches. its great to laugh at other
peoples misfortune. well its not, but moby is the exception
that proves the rule.

Yeah Heart and Soul is a great song. Slightly ripped off by
Radiohead for Morning Bell I think.
I prefer Unknown Pleasures as well. Disorder must be up
there with one of the coolest intros ever.

the movie "24 hour party people" pays respect to Joy
Division. It's amazing to see how JD's influence on the
Manchester scene prolonged itself far into the 90s rave
culture, ect / continued.

sure am. komakino, isolation, interzone, celebration, the
drawback, disorder, glass, failiures, leaders of men .. too
many awesome songs to list!

dont listen to them so much nowadays cause its unfitting for
my mood but they used to be my bread + butter when i was in
my moody early 20s :)

greatest bands ever.

good thread!!

One of the coolest songs ever made is the early pussypunk
version of Interzone, the screaming is INTENSE. And Ian
sounds so angry. The official version of it always
underwhelmed me. Joy Division are so good.

well yeah i know its the same band but ive never considered
NO to be JD or vice versa. i love them both. it sucks ian
died but there would never have been an NO if he hadnt.
kinda creepy i think.

i think the sound would have evolved on similar lines.

i read somewhere that ian was into bands like Throbbing
Gristle, that'd be an interesting direction :P

jd is about the only thing ive been listening to for the
past couple of weeks, i found substance and still in a
reduced bin for about 8 bucks each, substance is great,
still is pretty ok too, but i prefer the former - closer and
substance. even unknown pleasures, oh hell its all good.

Awesome stuff. The Eternal is my favourite song. Unknown
Pleasures and Closer are near-perfect, and Substance is a
pretty good compilation.
