if you're a total beginner, start with GarageBand. that
should teach you the basics of how a sequencer works and
stuff like that.

read up some books on Analogue Synthesis...this book is
perfect for a beginner LAZY_TITLE

offline xf from Australia on 2004-06-06 13:23 [#01225503]
Points: 2952 Status: Lurker

depends how you define a total beginner, i guess. i made
xm's years ago in mod tracker, and i've played with various
programs and produced sounds, but never had the time to
actually sit down and compose properly.

reason particulary interests me because it has cool stuff to
make sounds inside it. my sample collection from my xm days
is pretty poor.

well, if you're knowledgeable in the use of a sequencer, and
you know how to use synths and samplers and stuff, then by
all means go for Reason.

if you'd like to learn a bit more about synths, as said the
above mentioned book is excellent
