going through a bit of a phase.

you're one of the people with good taste in music around
here...it's quite amazing to see someone listening to non
warp related music :)

me neither...i haven't heard a really amazing electronica
album since ultravisitor was released :(

yeah its getting to the point now where the only electronica
im still really into is the really meloncholic stuff... the
stuff that speaks a thousand words... autechre, bola,
colleen, frank & bill... murcof etc etc...

99% of it is style over substance i think.

fuck, right now, there is something about that bossa nova
rhythm that just drives me crazy. combine that with muted
piano chords and im in heaven.

i can be easy to please sometimes.

if you like that stuff you would probably like "komatta
saru" by holkham and "the end of tel aviv" by
faction...these two were best melancholic electronica albums
in the last two months.

im listening to a lot of hip hop lately...especially "three
sinister syllables" by pro celebrity golf and jay glaze.
it's fantastic stuff, i've listened to it like 50 times in
the last week - i got it on saturday a week ago :)
it's cut and paste kind of album...apperantly they used over
250 samples for it, and they took their time (over two years
apparently) to produce it. great stuff.

i think doing a compilation swap might be a good idea. post
people a compilation of random stuff from your collection
and do a cdr swap. anyone want to play?

i'm kind of inspired to do a compilation when i get home
from work tonight. dig out some gems from the dusty depths
of my record box.

"well, i actually rip the tracks to mp3's first and then
again burn them as wavs, see."

this I don't get - why would you do it like that? that's
just unnecessary loss of sound quality, it seems to me.

my plan is to rip all my albums to mp3's one day...and im
making this compilations for my car stereo...it sounds good
there.

i think that the only rules that should be applied are:
1. no warp - too obvious. everyone on the board has probably
heard warp stuff too often.
2. be as creative as you can.

think it would be kind of cool to try and get all regular
members of the board to post out a cd to everyone,
recieving an equal amount of compilations back. probably
quite a big task to arrange, but it would be cool to
actually do it, dont you think?

it'd be extremly nice :)
maybe you should start a thread about it, and see how many
people would be interested...

as for the warp related stuff...couldn't agree more.

Points: 4669 Status: Lurker | Followup to tolstoyed: #01265130

i think i might start a thread, but maybe do it in the
daytime, when more people are about, just so the post
doesn't disappear into immediate obscurity.

but for now, i will get to work on my compilation, and at
least do a swap with yourself?

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2004-07-03 18:39 [#01265153]

alright!
i'll start working on one as well. are there any genre
limits? no pop or something? :)

offline bob from Nottingham (United Kingdom) on 2004-07-03 18:45 [#01265159]

make up your own rules for your own cd, i reckon. but i'm
going to make a cd for smoking weed to.

i think something that plays on a normal cd player would be
best, so thats what i will do anyway. gives me something to
do tomorrow now, too.

:)
