I guess he's too discreet to cite "disgust with current administration" as a reason for leaving. I always thought Powell would be the first fedgov bigwig to stomp out in disgust, but perhaps I've overestimated his ethics. |

I wondered why there was such a big deal about this, but then I found out that Americans don't resign as a matter of course. Am I the only one who finds this strange. In the UK, civil servants resign all the time if they are proven to be wrong about something, as a matter of honour. Perhaps John Scarlet could take a hint. after sucking up to tony blair, and putting government propaganda in that dossier, he gets to be top man at mi6 or something, instead of resigning like he should have done. We could replace him with Dame Judi Dench as 'M', now that would be good. |
