The last track on the King Crimson album called Red. Don't
know what its called but it is amazing, heard it at a mates
house and have to pick it up. Bit of a rusty old recording
tho.

I like the stuff Carter Burman did for Being John Malkovich,
that pretty cool.

'Frosty' on Vespertine is nice. Don't know if you can call
it an instrumental tho.

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis, most of Godspeed You Black
Emperor's shit. Oh, and Can. Can are fucking amazing.

that is all for now.

ta ta.

wonderful...

La Villa Strangiato by Rush... After the Ordeal by
Genesis... The last track from Under the Table and Dreaming
by The Dave Matthews Band is very nice...

can isn't instrumental! what are you talking about?

wow i can't believe someone mentioned dave matthews band on
here, not that there's anything wrong with that. they have a
couple great albums that i can't listen to anymore
(electronica has ruined me!).

i'm glad someone else likes that 'animal rights' album! i
love it, or loved it since i haven't listened to it in so
long (how can i with moby having changed so much as a person
in the last couple years? it's depressing to listen to his
music.). but anyway that album is wonderful, lots of quiet
organic ambient pieces, and some real rockers too like the
10 minute "FACE IT" and some real punk songs. kool with a k.

can ARE instrumental. just not all the time. and i love can.
they really are amazing, my favourite album must be ege
bamyasi. king crimson are partly instrumental too.
my favourites instrumentals are probably some chopin shit,
like the 12 études or the nocturnes. i really adore
rachmaninovs 4 piano concertos. its genius. i like piano. i
also love gybe! (im seing them next sunday) but they have
nothing to do with chopin or rachmaninov.

where are you seeing godspeed? i don't think they're touring
the US this year, unfortunately for me. i saw them december
2000 in dc and it was the best concert of my life. have fun,
and let me know if they play new songs.

umbriel from quebec...the old on 2002-01-09 22:35 [#00067837]

im seing gybe! in montreal, on the 13th. they also play on
the 14th 15th and 16th. i am sure they are going to sold out
on each date like every time they played montreal for the
past few years. after those shows, they are going to europe
for some months. i am so lucky to see them this time. i
never saw them. ill keep you informed. did you hear about
the new piece "low"?

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-09 22:47 [#00067841]

no, the only new one of theirs that i know is "tiny silver
hammers" parts a and b. if you downloaded an mp3 though you
probably got a mislabeled mp3 of the live song they did with
the band called low, "do you know how to waltz?". it's 27
minutes long. if you ever find the mp3 of the live song they
did with mogwai at all tomorrows parties 2000 let me know =)

umbriel from quebec...the old on 2002-01-09 23:34 [#00067857]

the mogwai/gybe! piece, if it was titled JEWISH i used to
have it but deleted it because i didnt have the end of it
and it annoyed the shit out of me.
thank you for telling me low is not the name of the song but
the name of a band they collaborated with.

SQUAREPUSHER - BONEVILLE OCCIDENT

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-10 08:18 [#00067955]

i played "boneville occident" on my radio show, taped it,
sent it to my girlfriend and asked what she thought of it. i
also had her buy herself a copy of the album a few weeks
before, though she's yet to listen to the cd. her thoughts
on the song? she couldn't stand it. she loves aphex twin
tho, including all of 'drukqs'. hmm.

as for "JEWISH" that is actually short for "jewish
traditional" which in itself is an alias for their song "my
father, my king" which mogwai closed their live sets in 2000
and 2001 with (including the show i went to june '01 in dc).
just amazing. 15 to 30 minutes of bliss live, depending on
the band's mood. i tranced out WITHOUT the use of any drug
(30 minute version). anyway, mogwai recorded the song w/
steve albini producing, mixing, and engineering for a one
song (20 minute) EP of the same name. i HIGHLY recommend it.
it's pretty inexpensive. anyway, it's possible GYBE!
performed that song with them, though i would lean toward it
being a mislabeled mp3 (no GYBE! whatsoever). i'll try to
find out more myself, i just recently discovered on mogwai's
site that they ever collaborated at all.
