I decided to check out u-ziq so I got Lunatic Harness. I realised I heard the some Mushroom Compost quite a while ago, long before I knew what IDM was. I flipped and grinned as I heard it again.
So my first IDM Song was u-zig - Mushroom Compost.
Post yours

Wipeout XL soundtrack. That game was my introduction to FSOL, Photek, and others. Best song in the game was done in-house(Cold Storage). Picked up Lifeforms after playing that game. And that's when the journey started.

actually, the first IDM track i ever heard (although i didn't know what it was / who it was at the time) was The Garden Of Linmiri - which was featured in the Pirelli Advert.
It must have been around about 1994 or maybe even earlier that I saw that ad, and I always loved the music in it...i always thought that it was specifically created for that advert. how naive of me! i was only about 11 or so

Mine was Windowlicker, and I wasn't very impressed. Cornish Acid was next, and it knocked me out and I still consider it a fucking masterpiece to this day.
I eventually came to love Windowlicker...

I believe the first time the word "intelligent" was used in an electronic music context would be the Warp compilation "Artificial Intelligence" that came out in the early nineties, it's the first time I remember hearing any music quite like that.
Also remember that Aphex Twin was about 14 when he made Ambient works 1 so maybe they could have been some of the first.
Personally I look to early Tangerine Dream as being one of the main influences to this sort of music although they couldn't really be described as "dance".
