has anybody else ever noticed that the cichli EP song titles are all tropical fish? a tilipia is a type of cichlid, just like kribensis, or mbuna or aulonacara peacocks, or freshwater angelfish, or oscars, or discus, or red devils. i'm sure nobody will believe me, everybody always thinks all Ae titles are just made up words. |

I'm sure some are just abstract titles, but I know a lot have meaning. Like Cichlisuite is pronounced "sickly sweet." |

actually..i think 'catachresis' means to use a word out of context for stylistic purposes... perhaps they have a sense of humor after all? albeit a nerdy one.. i dont know what lentic means though... |

Yeah .. Squeller is tops! I'd also add Dropp Zeiss Contarex (mind you that is with a bit of an ep7 fetish) Any one got/heard Peel Sessions 2: while Ae's live performance isnt' as great as their studio efforts - especially when its put onto cd- it has some mean[/incredible] percussion - !! |

I absolutely love Ae. I listen to them a lot more than Aphex Twin these days. My favourite tunes (in no particular order) :- Foil, Montreal, and Teartear from AMBER Dael, Clipper, Stud, and Overand from TRI REPETAE mostly everything off of CHIASTIC SLIDE everything off of LP5 (apart from Fold4,Wrap5), especially UnderBOAC, Corc, and Acroyear2 everything off of CONFIELD (this album is an amazing work of art in my opinion) everything off of CICHLISUITE and everything off of ENVANE I'm still waiting for EP7 to be delivered. I still haven't heard ALL their tracks. |

I just don't like the way it doesn't pick up at all. It just changes between two different tempos all through the track and doesn't really go anywhere. Sometimes I can appreciate this sort of phrasing but on this track I can't (at least not yet) get into it. Nevermind. |

i like autechre a lot too. i dont know the whole of their work, but a lot of the tracks i have heard stagnate at some point. they get the texture they want and they just play around with it. it can become predictable sometimes. lentic doesnt mean anything. it is similar to lenticular but it wouldnt make more sense in the "context". my favourite tracks: gelk, tewe, ccec |
