googlized:
"It seems that the practice to kiss to us goes back as many others to primitive habits in concrete to the transference of food of the mother from its mouth to the mouth of its children, since the birds do at the moment. This primitive contact of lips evolved towards a form for the mothers to show affection its children, as in fact it happens at the present time. Later the custom extended as sample of affection between the people. During the century I SAW extended in France the custom to kiss itself between the adults when the dances proliferated and the practice to the use was to seal the end of each dance with a kiss. It entailed to that kissing itself went sight as a way to express mutual affection in the cut. The Russian nobility copied east habit of the French nobility and was in old Russia where the kiss was gotten up for the first time in the wedding celebrations, where the kiss in himself sealed the promises of the fiancès. Throughout the time kissing itself has been a form to express mutual respect. For example, on old Rome the Romans kissed themselves to greet mutually - in fact this custom lasts still nowadays -. the Roman emperors recognized in addition the importance to a person by the part of the body that was allowed him to kiss when being with the emperor. Thus, to the relevance people he was allowed them to kiss the face of the emperor; to the noble of less social category their hands and the people of more low social category had to kiss the feet to him. The Romans had in addition different "levels" from kisses, as we have them at the present time, from most respectful to most intimate"

Ha ha, that's just what I said!
I said I reckon that anyone who subscribes to freudian theories is a sex-obssessed nut, looking to find sexual meaning where there isn't any and to rationalise their own perversion as normal. You may think jet engines look like phallic symbols, but I can see (and grasp) they're shaped that way for one reason- aerodynamics.
