What is the best soundcard around these days? I'm sick of fucking around with my onboard nForce sound and sb live! player 5.1 which are both alright, but have a load of issues that I won't get into now. I'm gonna need one that does 5.1 and also has its own ASIO driver, apart from that I don't care about features. Money is no object also. Any ideas?

I have a Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96, the one with the drive bay so you can plug stuff into the front. It is a v good soundcard, good latency and has shitloads of sockets should you ever need them. I am very pleased with it... I bought it for around £130 I think.

i use a sb audigy platnium also with front panel access. 24bit is lush and it supports 5.1. its been no trouble and has a handy little recorder with the "record what you hear function" great for sampling whatever sound is coming through your computers intestinal tract. but but i want whatever soundcard autechre uses!!!
