You'll enjoy it, he's still a decent performer, and has the
best personal back catalogue of any human being on earth to
draw from, and he knows it. I love his live performances of
We Can Work it Out. There's a few Beatles standards he does
that sound better live than on record... Got to Get You Into
My Life usually sounds great.

paul mccartney is an immensely talented musician. sure, he
can be annoying as shit, and gets cheesier and more banal by
the day. even in the beatles he was the cheesiest one.

but the man has an innate ear for a circular, complex, and
clever melody line like no other. i think it's a thing
you're either born with or not, similar in a way to snares'
ability to write in 7/8 fairly effortlessly.

i certainly wouldn't pass an opportunity like that by; it
very well might be the last opportunity to see a beatle
live, barring the 2006 ringo tour.

exactly!

but in the begining there was some 15 minutes of
"electronic" mixed music (I think from the album mcartney2)
while there was some kind of medieval circus acting on
stage.

IT WAS FUCKING GREAT!

I will remember this for the rest of my life

opheck I thought of you while I was at the concert.. I
thought " ophecks would be in heaven right now if he were

ok its not like seeing the beatles or anything, but it was
pure energy and lott of feeling into the acting... some
moments remembering john were pure magic

it was a great act... with my favourite moment being the
"live and let die" explosion of fires and lights

I knew you were going to like this, the much maligned Paul

A bit. It's more synth based, typical late 70's
electronic/80's new wave. He also has an ambient
''alter-ego'' called The Fireman, a collaboration with a guy
that worked with The Orb, made a couple of albums like that.
He used to play some Fireman tracks at the start of
concerts... maybe that's what you heard?

Wow, I just realized while listening to some clips of one of
the concerts that Paul played You Won't See Me for the first
time EVER during the Spain shows... 39 years after it was
written. What took him so long? That's my favorite song in
history, and the dipshit never performed it live for me
until now. Great performance, though. The ''la la laas'' and
''ooooo''s are perfect for crowd participation.
You Won't See Me MP3.

Didn't McCartney upset a few people a couple of years ago by
insisting the writing credits in all Beatles albums and
sheet music be changed to McCartney&Lennon, instead of the
trademark (literally) and alphabetic Lennon&McCartney?
I think that pissed off a lot of people that were close to
John. It did seem like a rather bitter thing to do;
resurrecting the memories of their strained artistic
relationship almost twenty years after John had died.

very interesting

well.... I understand mcartney cos those 19 songs where he
wanted to change lennon & mcartney for : mcartney & lennon

were really almost 100% by mcartney alone, so thats why I
understand paul

but if you ask me, I think he shouldnt have....

Paul shouldn't have done it, and I'd wager it was a hard
thing for him to do, but in the grand scheme of things, it's
really not a big deal. Nobody's perfect, and everybody has
an ego. If I wrote every word and note of a song like
Yesterday, I'd want people to know about it, and I'd want my
name first. No doubt about it, he wanted it that way then
and regretted ''the handshake'', not knowing they were going
to be so huge, and he wants it that way now. He wants to be
remembered as THE MAN that wrote that song. And can you
blame him? Until you write the most popular song in history,
you can't see it HIS way. And there's much more to this
story than we know about.

Please Please Me has ALWAYS been ''McCartney/Lennon'', never
been a big deal. I think L/M being set in stone was stupid,
and they knew it, it was a naive decision by naive young
men. And it was bound to create some problems and tension.
This wasn't your everyday bar band, and they're only
human...

It was a bit of a dickhead thing to do on Paul's part (bet
he wouldn't have done it if John was around, heh), but when
taking into consideration all the millions of things Paul
has done to keep John's memory alive (that concert just one
of many), you simply can't say Paul has ever tried to
downplay John's achievements or be anything less than a
great ambassador of his partner. It was a fuckup, but it was
the only one. A completely logical fuckup. And I bet spiting
Yoko Ono had something to do with it, too...

I wonder, would John mind? I doubt it, really. John wasn't
too complimentary of some of those songs. ;-) He'd LOOOOVE
to get his name taken off the credits of ''When I'm 64''!
