Hmmm...what can I say about this collection of EP's.
I really like it, but not for listening to at home. It is very much a club/party album or listening to in a car showing off your new sub in the boot.
Enjoyable stuff...although I think it will have more haters here than likers.

Far better than the Wiley album...
And smooth to hear these tracks without mindless MCing over as well...
(Was playing some at +50% last night, which brings out the jungle flavour...give it a try, it's kinda's surprising..)...
BTW did you notice The Observer Music Monthly mag had a piece about Grime this week?...Better (so very) last than never, I guess...

i was so disappointed with wiley's album. where are the fucking basslines? his lyrics aren't half as interesting as dizzee's and his delivery is just flat compared to dizzee's histrionic yelp.
cheers for the link jand. london people: d'ya reckon a posh-voiced skinny white bwoy like myself would return from a trip to Rhythm Division records in E3 with both mobile phone and dignity intact? or am i just being a pussyclot?
i'm guessing adopted slang like pussyclot and bwoy would be strictly off limits, heheh.

true. but then most record stores are in city centres/shopping areas, not one of the 5 most deprived boroughs in the country.
i suppose the physical danger is trivial. i'm more worried about being laughed at/mocked for being a grime 'tourist' - y'know, relatively affluent white kids slumming it.

why do people find it acceptable to have practically the same name as another prominent musician in the game.
I mean , copping a song title or artist name for a screen handl;e is one thing , but you must have cocksucking nerve to release music under someone elses name. changing a letter doesnt fix that shit.

It's a little like the whole LFO/LFO (Low Frequency Oscillations/Lyte Funky Ones) thing; which caused an amusing misunderstanding in my first year at university. You should have seen the guy's face when I played him the LFO that I was talking about.. Not quite what he had in mind, he had been quite partial to the latter.

From Rephlex Grime
Markone
MarkOne has been causing a stir on the scene since his first release on his label Contagious over two years ago. He has appeared in a handful of magazines, including Deuce, Mixmag, B&S, Touch to name a few, and was nominated for BEST GRIME PRODUCER at the 2003 Sidewinder awards.
Originally a Drum and Bass producer in Sheffield, he switched up styles after some advice from Oris Jay, and a lot of frustration with the drum and bass scene.
When Oris dropped one of his early tunes at Forward, things started moving and he became accepted into the wider Forward scene.
Since then Mark has appeared on various compilation albums and has had releases on Polydor's P Records, Soulja, Texture, Immunity, Hard Livin, Vehicle and Contagious as well as having loads of other offers to with other labels. Mark was also responsible for signing up Plasticman to Contagious as well as bringing him into Virus.
Mark has played with the Virus crew (who have a show on Rinse FM) and all over the UK as well as internationally; including One Nation in Germany, Rephlex recently took Markone and Plasticman on tour to the US where they rocked it every time.

Plasticman
21 years old and based in London, Plasticman used to be dj darkstar but switched names when he became known for writing reviews for rewind magazine under the name Plasticman. Plastic's first release was on Slimzee's label Slimzos Recordings and was very successful. His next release was on Mark One's label Contagious after he met him at street sales, the track was “Hard Graft” with a remix from Mark on the other side, it caused a storm on the underground and was in high demand by EVERYONE. At this time he hooked up with Virus syndicate and started doing shows with them on Rinse FM, until the rinse management decided to give him his own Saturday show.
His next release was a 3 track ep on Road through Neil at Ammunition followed by his classic “pump up the jam/white gloves” on Souljah. With this record and a lot of great press attention, new tunes on his own terrorhythm label, fatale attraction and more 2 da floor, this year is going to be amazing for Plasticman, and therefore amazing for us.

Slaughter Mob
Formed in 1995, brought together by their love of the darker side of garage, Slaughter Mob are DJ Bandit + DJ Gritty, MC Vicious, MC Dangerous.
Having spent years doing the rounds on Y2Kfm, formerly Mission Fm and playing in various venues; Mass, Bagley’s, Stratford Rex, Camden Palace and more recently Plastic People they have now developed their skills to produce their own sound.
Spending time in the studio has enabled them to learn and develop the skills needed to produce tracks as a collective and individually – you only have to listen to Q- Gritty’s “Step of”, Vicious + DJ Bandit’s “Strange Tension” & Dangerous’s “Murda” to get a taste of what they are capable off.
Now residents at the monthly Forward night at Plastic People, they have found a home to bring their SLT sound to. A guaranteed show-stopper, rolling dub after dub and never afraid to re-load, they are pure entertainment. You can feel their enthusiasm bouncing of the walls.
Always ahead of their time musically not everyone has always appreciated the sound they were pushing but that didn’t stop Slaughter and after years of perseverance, it seems they are finally getting the recognition they deserve, especially when last year EL-B (the godfather of dubstep) gave them props on JaDa Flex’s show.
