Keys, Drunken: I do exactly the same.

do you guys find it a bit stressful, in a weird way? the
constant vigilance watching out for the appearance of a
superior, the general suspicion from my colleagues, and the
guilt. oh, the guilt.

internet, thou art a cruel mistress.

no... no stress.. I have my own office (which actually is
pretty large), my boss is one half building away, and mostly
contacts me by phone when I'm needed.. plus.. since I am a
civilworker, no-one can blame me for anything.. EVER!

surely if you can get away with doing nothing, what you're
supposed to be doing can't be that important anyway?

yeah i've had it like that in the past. pretty sweet. got
left in charge of the office for a week when the boss went
on a business trip, very small organisation (boss and me,
the PA, basically) so no one else around - i brought
in my laptop, smoked a couple of green ones and played
around on fruity loops every day!

that was fucking awesome.

hahahah. yeah.. it's only the boss and me here too, and he's
going to tibet next week as well!! hahaha! he also spends 6
months of the year on svalbard!

wicked.

i did get a minor reprimand when the boss got back though,
cos one of the building's receptionists dobbed me in for
having my girlfriend in the office with me. however, they
were none the wiser about the fact that i was nipping out
round the back for a spliff before lunch! haha.

don't think i'll be able to do that when i'm a doctor.

makes me sick -- there's poor schmucks who have to grind out
8 hours of work a day, constantly under supervision, never
able to even sit down, and then there are you fucks who
spend all day in an office doing jack-shit and getting paid
a lot more for it. makes me sick.

well.. my pay isn't good. What I'm doing is army-duty
witouth beeing in the army, you see... i get 2800 norwegian
kroner each 15 days... if it wasn't for the fact that we
have to go to the army (or do civil duty), I'd be studying
right now instead of this.. it's a 13-month break in my
life.

I haven't been doing much... but I really don't have THAT
much to do really... and I only get paid 500 euros a
month... which is pretty shit... well, I get my rent and
plane ticket paid too... but still! ;)

well yeah ok, the money aint gonna be great n stuff but its
not having the pressure of someone noting your every action
and have to ask for things and shit. i worked for my right
to not do much.. so i don't think that makes me a bad
person. does it?

marlowe if you think that makes you sick, then know this....
i'm on really good money, probably more than the low-paid
romanian programmers i work with, an dhtey work their tits
off.

Also... i seem to live the same lifestyle, being paid well
or on the dole, which i was for 4 months last year. I'm so
lazy, its all the same to me..

yeah it makes me sick too. hence the guilt. but me working
hard in my crappy job isn't gonna make the people with even
shittier jobs have to work any less hard in theirs, is it?

if it makes you feel any better, my pay is only a couple of
quid an hour above minimum wage. i wish our society was more
redistributive and progressive in its taxation, which is why
i'll be voting lib dem in the upcoming local elections
(abolish council tax which is not income scaled, and hike
the tax on £100,000+ earners from 40% to 50%).

even though charles kennedy is pretty charmless and would be
a poor PM.

the way i see it, any nimrod could have gone through exactly
the same channels to get the job i got so i absolutely don't
feel guilt at all about getting good money and not working
hard for it........

...there are ways to get money and be lazy and i'm doing
exactly that, and its great!

i learned this skill off my pops who never worked a hard day
in his life - thats for chumps or people who enjoy doing
that - and thats fair enough.
