Yesterday was buddah's birthday and there was program about tibet on tv.
It so reminded me of ae-amber and ae. Amber and overall ae makes me half-feel what buddah talked about. Good or bad?
The place like tibet, I am tempted visit someday but also feel afraid to.

heh.. . its not as easy as wanting to go there.. . tibet (especially today) is one of the hardest places to get too.. . you might have more luck trying to get to the moon. ..

Anyway I think what these 2 normal young guys have done is amazing. Whatever stage they were going through at that time. music can make it more real at fatser time than 1000 books.

playing music would be a no no.. . your supposed to eliminate outside influences until everything is gone.. . music would be harder to "ignore".. . depending on the type of course. ..

yes i often listen to music during meditation, particularly bali gamelan.
music/sound can be just as good a meditation object as anything else. more experienced meditators will lean toward more complicated music .. but at first gentle ambient is very helpful.
but yes for me eastern music has a profound effect.

meditation is more about developing strong focus, than trying to eliminate stimuli.
when the mind focuses on one thing it is like sunlight through a magnifying glass. the quality of focus is what the mind finds relaxing. it is relaxing because the act of watching a single point is simple. in time a person cultivates this focus and can begin to direct it at all kinds of things.
this doesnt mean that everything else is blocked out, one still is aware of the surroundings, but watches them 'with detachment'
