Listening to music...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-08 03:32 [#00067148]

you know, I picked up a new portable cd player today, and
I've been listening to some of the cd's I haven't listened
to in ages, and it's friggin amazing... this player gives
slightly different sound then the other one I had, and I'm
hearing new things in these songs... it's very cool when you
can do that, put on a album you've had forever, and hear
something new...

Well. it can have a negative side too! There was this song I
used to listen to all the time then I played it on CD for
the first time & noticed an annoying beat all the way
throughout the song. I have'nt listened to it in years now!
Faraway hills look green..

BOC- Music has the right to children

One of the most amazing headphone albums of the last 5 years

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-08 18:52 [#00067400]

yeah I was listening to Music has the Right last night...
and it sounded much better... the synths in some songs took
on new life, sounded fuller, and deepr and stuff... really
cool...

i got new headphones recently, good ones, and discovered the
same thing. albums I hadn't paid attention to in months
suddenly sounded better because of the little bits I never
noticed before.

Mike from yer moms house on 2002-01-08 21:45 [#00067434]

i agree full fartedly

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-08 21:59 [#00067446]

yeah I hardly ever listen to music without headphones
anymore... since I picked up Ok Computer way back, I've
realized the subtlety of good music...

their albums...

i'm listening to the new dj krush album ('zen') and you
know, i've had it since the week it came out but i didn't
realize how amazing it was until i started playing single
tracks on my radio show (fortunately for me it was a 'heavy
rotation' album - we're OBLIGATED to play 2 HR tracks per
hour, so i play krush, bjork, tori amos, hank williams
covers, and system of a down) and i didn't REALLY grasp that
it was one of the best albums of this year (i have it at #6
right now, after confield) until just now when i listened to
the whole cd w/ headphones. i strongly recommend it, it's
really great - touches on all types of music - hip-hop, r&b,
techno, jazz, even idm - blended w/ krush's unique style.
8/10

the new stereolab cd is called "sound-dust". personally my
favorite album of theirs is "emperor tomato ketchup". if you
want some of the highlight tracks, download:
-metronomic underground
-monstre sacre
-percolator
-anonymous collective

enjoy!

what is your opinion of Dots and Loops?

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-09 05:18 [#00067578]

i like dots and loops a lot but it's a little short. check
out the song on there "the flower called nowhere". pharrell
williams of the neptunes/N.E.R.D. loves to listen to that
song while.....GETTING HEAD (he claimed in an interview).

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-09 18:40 [#00067752]

listening to Start as You Mean to go On, and man it's
great... this song sounds awesomer then ever with this cd
player...

I've had BOC music has the right to children for a fe wweeks
and following the advice of whoever it was on this thread I
listened to the whole album on headphones, brilliant. I knew
a lot of music sounded different, but I'd never listened to
this through my headphones. Thanks to whoever it was.
