Soulseek = Shit

What's with this new trend by people unsharing files when
you only have about 3 files left to get off an
album...selfish twats. Like an extra 15 minutes is going to
kill them.

i only liked soulseek 3 years ago. it got shittiest once
audiogalaxy closed down.

I am going to have to start using my original method of free
purchasing...and this way I will once again get the artwork
and packaging.

last nite i woke at 3am, noticed my comp making a loud
humming noise and disconeccted and turned it off without
even checking slsk transfers. usually i leave it running
like a dog all the time though. . .

soulseek is a victim of it's own success.

s'pose so.

i remember when nir actually hung around and you could talk
to the guy. dont know if it's still like that.

huh explain?

cie jiks I don't mean people who turn their comps off or
whatever. I haven't got a problem with that and I'm in no
rush to get new stuff, it's when people just unshare files
mid way through someone downloading from them.

When AG went down and everyone moved onto Slsk it did suffer
as a result, but generally it's been beneficial because I
don't exclusively listen to electronic music. When I first
went on Soulseek nobody was sharing rock music - at all. It
was a pain in the fucking arse. I've had the same thing
recently with people unsharing halfway through, these people
are idiots.

The only problem I have with it now is the atrocious
download speeds I'm getting. Though that probably has more
to do with my computer than Soulseek. I also seem be getting
slightly less search results compared to yesteryear, but I'm
still quite happy with it. It rarely lets me down when I'm
on the hunt, and I've had good experiences with the people
on there, for the most part. Except the ones that thinks
it's funny to queue up 50,000 ROMS simultaneously.

Yes, I've had people queue up 700 megabytes of SNES ROMs
from me. The joke is, of course, on them, since I have a
shit speed and only allow 1 upload at a time. tee hee.

aah its a piss off.
50% people=bad
50% people=good
soulseek=112%.

i had a great passage where i was dwnloading samurai maths
beats from "loathsome" while he/she was dloading huge chrome
from me we both getting like 18clicks/second and having a
chat while it was going on.

have noticed that i need to run a search for much longer
than i used to, in order to get any decent results.

Worst are the people who unshare really rare 500mb+ VSTs
when you've nearly finished getting them. I nearly had "The
Grand" and the "Trilogy Bass Module" once...

I can just see it... Some evil fucker (who probably just
renamed some gay porn .mpg file to get the large file size)
sitting at their PC for days on end, waiting: 5mb to go...
CANCELLED. Ha ha! I pissed off a stranger who has no

work...but I don't know about computers at all.

forward ports 2234 and 5534 for best results with slsk. i
wonder if a new specialised electronica peer2peer will
spring forth soon? could it be called "igloo"?

soulseek has been absolute shit for me in the last 2 weeks.
connecting to the server actually causes windows to
periodially completely freeze. stopping all internet traffic
or a reboot is the only thing that helps then :\

Slsk is good for sharing your collection with peeps you
know. But for random searches it sucks.
chatroom user browsing is still intuitive and effective.

thats wild that people would complain about a free,
"idm" centric network like soulseek. i've seen 6 year olds
with more integrity. i think its amazing. even with its
flaws, theres no room for complaining.

is there anything better for what it is?

I was complaining about the pratices of people myself, not
the service which I appreciate for the time, effort and
money that the makers obviously put into it.
