He's great, but I only like his early 80's work. Blade Runner, Antarctica, etc... There's something timeless in his synths.

yes, I do like him... I own Bladerunner and Chariots of Fire... Chariots of Fire is kind of weak (the main theme rocks though) but Bladerunner rules!

The synth making that squelchy tone is a Yamaha CS-80. Arturia has a VSTi that's said to be pretty faithful.
The thing with Vangelis is, a lot of his stuff, especially the stuff before Blade Runner, is kinda hit and miss. I can appreciate most of the tracks on my Best of Vangelis CD but I have to trick myself into a cheesy mood to do it.
