I have already seen the deleted scenes (on the DVD)...
but I might take a look at it.

old movie + deleted scenes is not the director's cut.

besides, being able to see this in the theater again is
fucking great.

that saids nothing about showing it in theatres abroad
(which I don't think will be the case)...
and it also saids nothing about new material being shot...
So I don't know what to think.

but... I have never seen it in a theatre, so if it would be
shown here, that would be amazing news and I'd defineatly go
and see it!

Richard Kelly unofficial site you mean ;)

I was in two minds when I heard about this. On the one hand
Kelly has stated numerous times that there were things about
the film he was unhappy with, certain scenes he was sad
about having to cut out, and time/budget constraints
restricting things he wanted to include. He also says this
version will be a lot different and "shock even hardcore
fans". But since he hasn't released anything since, it's
possibly too soon to release a director's cut, and even
though new footage will be included I bet a lot of it is
deleted scenes stuff which, like Key Secret, I've already
seen. His new films' premises sound intruiging, and I'd
rather see something new from him than this, but I'd like to
see it somehow (I'm fucked if I'm buying another copy of it
though).

I really liked this movie. Too bad I only got to see it
once.. my illegal cable stopped working as this was on the
movie channels. I only watch The Simpsons now.

the director likens this to an "extended remix" in one of
those articles. apparently, the movie is fundamentally
altered.

i don't know if i really want to see the new version because
of this... i like the idea of "remixing" a film, but on the
other hand, i liked the original version so much, i don't
really want that to be changed for me...

i totally see what you mean. However, the DC could just as
well be great. If not, the first movie still exists.

Really, would you take the risk of not seeing it and
regretting it later?

i dont think i could. but yeah it would be a major bummer if
you really disliked it, and for some reason made it
impossible for you to enjoy the original movie again.

I never saw what all the fuss about the original was about.
it was okay, but not much more.

to me it was like the director makes up some arbitrary
theory and then shows how it works. the arbitrariness of the
theory has always irked me and has kept me from getting
really involved with the film.

actually he doesnt show how it works. that's why i can watch
this film so many times.

maybe you should watch it again and not focus on trying to
understand the theories.

seeing as that's the only thing that's remotely interesting,
that wouldn't leave much.

theories? i don't think the original movie is about that
sci-fi stuff at all. that isn't what i took away from it.
i felt like it was a very surreal and emotionally-engaging
film.

ditto for me too, i found it to be the polar opposite of
it's a wonderful life i dont really care about this
time travel crap, the bigger ideas in the plot are what is
important.

yeah when i heard this news i was pretty pleased. Where I
live they only showed DOnnie Darko in one or two cinemas,
and they werent anywhere near me and didnt show for long. It
will be great to see it at the cinema. And from what i hear,
the directors cut is really good, 20+minutes of extra
footage, i cant wait.
