I would say System Shock 2 is the king. It oozes paranoia
and dread. Nothing like playing in the dark with earphones.
Ahh, the memories...

Silent Hill used to frighten me, especially at the
beginning.

Alien vs. Predator 2 used to scare me.

especially the marine missions.

haaha, yes..... did it have the bleeps in it, for locations
of aliens? they were really scary!

I've only ever played a short demo of silent Hill, I think
I'm missing out.

O yeah, though I liked the first AVP better.

I would also say the dungeons in Daggerfall used to scare me
when I was little.

i remember playing the marine demo of avp2 at night, after
smoking a bowl, with the lights out and with headphones on
really loud. needless to say, i was in the bathroom after a
few minutes.

Silent hill no doubt. And Resident evil 2, some bits. But
silent hill had the whole alter universe, rusty, relgious,
zombie thing going on, and the music was insane. And the
myst! Ah the myst!

unbelievablyloud... scares the crap out of you.

I agree about System Shock 2, judging from the bits that I
played. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work on my system
now (hooray for nVidia's crappy drivers!).

And then there's this.

I never really get to play scary games for one reason or
another..

I loved the first Silent Hill until my PS broke and I've
never had PS2. System Shock was very disturbing. AVP
however, almost makes me have anxiety attacks, I'm too
fragile for that shit :(
