track 1
track 2

when i downloaded geogaddi a couple of years ago these were
listed as 'music is math' and 'gyroscope', respectively. i
bought geogaddi today and found that they are not
those tracks...so...what are they? definately sounds like
BoC to me.

thanks.

Listening to the first one....

Nope... nothing by BOC I've ever heard. But it sounds like
someone imitating them because this is really not BOC
quality unless its something from "a few old tunes" which i
dont think it is...

2nd track... never heard this one either. sorry. I cant help
you here.

Definitely far below BoC par, this stuff. No distinctive BoC
sound present, no engaging melody,no grainy beats or drowned
sounds.... nope doesn't sound like BoC at all.

It sounds like a shit BoC ripoff. I have a few old tunes,
both volumes. This is not BoC

This ain't boc, whatever it is...

Track 1. Sounds like an amateur music maker's efforts as
opposed to a proper artist's tracks renamed. Boring drums
and that poor main synth give it away.

Track 2. A bit better melody wise, the production is still
pretty gash and far too "clean" to be boc.

was Music is Math? you must've been soo happily suprised
when you heard the real version today!

track 2 is called "a reason for today", and it's by
chaosmachine (me). i made it a couple days after 9/11/01,
and posted it on my site.

then, about a month before geogaddi was released, it got
spread around on audiogalaxy as "boards of canada -
gyroscope z" . at one point over 200 people were sharing
it... you can still find a few people sharing it on
soulseek, in place of the real "gyroscope"... for those of
you going to check your collection, here is an easy way to
tell.. the boc track is 3:35 long, and the chaosmachine
track is 3:13 long.

anyway, if you liked it, and you want to here something a
bit more recent, here is my site.

btw, i had nothing to do with track 1 (eww..)

I'm sure loads of people are going to be interested in

I'll check out some stuff later

i admit the production on that track is not so great..
that's one of the things i've been working on improving over
the last 3 years or so.

it wasn't my intent to make "reason for today" a boc
ripoff.. check out "incandescent autumn" (aka "birthday
tape") if you want to hear me doing a true boards style
track.. i made it last year as an april fools joke.. i even
had joyrex fooled .. he wrote an email to hexagon sun asking
where it came from.. hehe.. ;p

apologies dude, my response has more to do with my utter
love for music is math than it does with the quality of
these tracks...
