I went. It was amazing. The set started with Dick Slissig
doing this really repetative guitar loop over and over again
for about 20 minutes, varying it very slightly in a Reich
kind of way. People were going crazy with boredom but it was
a really creepy feeling that was totally absorbing and mind
blowing.

When Matmos came on they started by blowing a straw through
water and then sampling it and looping it. That kind of set
the tone for the rest of the evening. It even verged on
Smojface at times with nasty anatomical video back-drops.

All in all a lush night out followed by strolling the
streets of Venice at dusk.

i saw them in florence last week
i hated dick slessig
really boring and unassuming i'm sick of hearing the same
things all the time it's all been done before...
matmos were good
they started with lipostudio then a song about piano then
stuff from the last album wich i don't like much but it was
good anyway
too short

Did they give you an encore? Bis?

yes 2 bis
in the first they did a strage funky concrete track wich i
never heard before
on the second bis only one of the 2 go out and played a
dissonant "song"with some speches and random noises wich
really sucked
bis in venice?

yo i showed up at the show on the first night but as it was
sold out we couldn't fanangle a way inside. we hung out for
a bit outside the venue just to check out the scene then
went for a coffee at a litte cafe near-by.

sounds like it would have been fun.

too bad. so sad

yeah, bis in Venice but only 1. They had to play again
striaght after and were pushed for time.

I trust they slagged off Bush before they played the civil
war track?

what's so great in padova? personally i don't really like
it...it looks to industrial...as for the women - they look
good in just about every city :)

Well, the graffiti scene is good. There aren't too many
tourists (like Verona, Venice etc). Its small enough to be
personal but big enough to escape and not be noticed. the
architecture is varied. The food is good. It's one hour from
the beach and one hour fromt he mountains....etc.
All it needs is some life injecting into the music
scene....which is where I come in if I were to live there
again ;o).

i see...that description totally fits my hometown as well :)
well, with only exception that i only have 30 minutes to the
mountains :)
and lately we have extremly good music scene, which is
really nice: in the past two weeks or so i've seen;
fantomas, plaid, kraftwerk, manitoba and im seeing jan
jelinek tonight :)

It sounds dope.

I also forgot to say most of my Italian friends are there
and that;s what really counts. Without friends I am
nothing.

sure thing, that about the friends!
and another nice fact aboout padova is that you have bologna
nearby, and well, i think appart from rome bologna is the
city with the best developed music scene in italy...shame
they closed the old "link" though :(

Where the fuck did eVolume go to? I wanted to stick my
tongue out at him as I manaaged to fandangle my way into the
concert even though it was sold out. I played the pissed-off
English muscian adn they gave way in the end. Did you talk
to the girls on the desk or the dude upstairs?

yeah we went to the show in Venice. on the first night.
i suppose we could have tried harder to get in but since we
don't really speak itallian i wasn't sure how far we could
really push it. too bad i didn't see you outside or
something, it would have been sweet to have a native speaker
campaigning for us.

oh well. the past is just that... past.
