In your opinion, which artists use which effects the best...(subjective matter I know).
I vote Plaid for reverb on synth lines/melodies or aphex for the odd reverbed drum snare.
Telex for vocoder:'Moskow Diskow'
Any opinions on other effects..Pitch Modulation..tight delay..?

um.
IDM is 75% effects. Naming one person would be pointless.

particular instances though.....
Squarepusher often makes flangey effects turn melodies and synths into other-worldly rythmns:
- vic acid ep - melanic, off UV - district line 2
he's not afraid to release the raw power ofthe effect i reckon.

I know but they use them in different ways and some stand out more than others..no?
I just want some opinions or examples of what you think was well used.

I dunno, probably some old dub. Aside from guitar distortion in rock and roll, it's probably the only genre where use of a particular effect (delay/reverb/echo) is really integral to the sound.

agree with ceri, if it wasnt for multi tap delay, dub wouldnt be dub.

They mainly used big spring reverb/echo boxes I believe, but don't quote me on that.

That uses spring reverb as well as tape loops :P
Do you know of any good tutorials/online resources for making dub?
It's something I've been interested in for a while, but I can never get it quite "dubby" enough, always sounds like reverbed hip hop :/
