Pelican City - Rhode Island.

It's like somone took the best bits of DJ Shadow circa
endtroducing and a bit of Portishead and made something
beautiful out of it. Th elatter half of the album is a bit
weak, but the first half more than makes up for it.

sounds absolutely zero like his normal stuff :)

It's really good, you won't be disappointed. Let us know how
the Dangermouse show goes, is it just him or is it part of
that tour the details on the warp site are about?

any other recommended trip hop? quite enjoy the likes of
sneaker pimps, portishead, massive attack, hooverphonic.
mind you, there's a lot of crap out there, too :-)

I didn't know anyone actually still used the term "trip
hop".

ill throw this question out in the open seeing as its
somewhat trip hop related.

i heard that beth gibbons of portishead collaborated with
some guy and made an album called "Out of Season". was this
trip hop or something else all together.
if youve heard it, let me know how it sounds.

Thanks

Exactly.

I know people will cry about "pidgeon holeing" music till
the cows come home, but really, it's the best way of briefly
(and in this case, highly accurately) giving another person
a rough idea of what it sounds like. If I wrote a list of
10-15 acts it sounded like, it'd be no more accurate than
the way I described it.

triphop is a nice way of putting it.

i enjoy a band called mono, they only released one album,
'life in mono' some years ago but it's a very nice album.

i still think splinter is th best release by sneaker pimps,
and maybe the best of the 'genre', even thought it's poppy
elements. i love chris's voice.

I believe the album was "Formica Blues"- their only hit
single was "Life In Mono" (which was on the Great
Expectations remake sound track). There was another single
off the album (I forget which track), but it flopped.

I've only got Mono - Life in Mono. Great release though.

Although they never did do a follow up album the main girl
(Siobhan de Mare) still does other stuff, she's was (after
the mono split) one half of "Violet Indiana" (the other
being an ex-cocteau twins member). That project seemed to
fold a couple of years back though...

No idea what the guy is doing now/since though, shame, he
was a really good producer.

You're not confusing them with the japanese noise group? ;)

Seriously, I can't find anything about it (or even the
band's website). What's the album called?
