I'm not realy into autechre cause of confield for instance,
someone told me that's one off their weirdest album, I heard
some other stuff what was interesting, so tell me: what

CHIASTIC SLIDE!!!!!!

also all ae albums including Confield are great.

Listening to VI Scose Poise right now.

Also Draft 7.30 and Gantz Graf are pretty weird. Not sure if
Confield can still claim the title of 'ae's weirdest'.

I just have the available cds... (18 cds)

and I love autechre
and I can say confield is their best eventhough they have
real masterpieces such as chiastic slide or lp5

Confield is genius though... I must say I share your love
for ae...

confield is oke, but got the vynil release, maybe autechre
is more for cd listening, long beautifull background music?

nacmat: any response from amazone.fr?

There's no set way to get into Autechre. You either like it
and learn to love it, or you hear a couple things, don't
bother with them for a while, then learn to love their
music. matbe listen to them off and on for years on end
before you suddenly shout "ENLIGHTENMENT!" and run through
the street buck naked screaming something understand
everything and a bag of chips...

Any way you slice it: YOU'RE DOOMED TO BECOME AN AE FANBOY!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

(Have fun listening...)

;)

I still think Draft 7.30 blows the shit out of all other
Autechre albums. Am I strange for thinking that?

Research indicates that everyone who likes earlier autechre
more than later is a faggot.

I think it's generally accepted that 7.30 is their
technically most impressive work--I think it is rather
clearly more thoroughly thought out than confield (no need
to go into details), and style is what causes most people to
pick either of these two or some other one as their
favorite.

I think lp5 is kinda weak. If living somewhere where it is
available, tr++ is I feel the best start--the bonus disc has
some amazing tracks, and of course the value is nice.
Otherwise maybe amber, or incunabulum (which I'm not too
crazy about initially, but used to love).

-crazeone, if you mentioned some other stuff you like, it
would be easier to pick a good match. For instance I
generally like ambient/trance stuff, so incunabulum was a
good bridge from that background..

LP5 all the way...ï dont like tri repetae..and the bonus
disc that sneakattack mentioned is 2 of thie EPs, anvil
vapre and garbage, which by the way are great as are all of
autechres EPs. draft 7.30 rocks my socks the hardest....

after listening to 'Rpeg' and 'Ccec'.

I think I'll try amber first, most off you people mention
this release

btw my choice of music depends on my mood, I like ambient,
easy listening "background" music like BoC, but drill&bass
and breakcore, call it what you like, the more hardcore
based material, is what I enjoy the most. actually I like
almost every (electronic) based experimental music, so i
guess I'll like autechre too and I'll become a fan after
all.
Just like tolstoyed wants " spokes" at the moment and he
didn't like plaid at all in the first place :)

amber is very ambient

draft 7.30 is more noisy and with lots of textures

great both

I've started with a LP5+Confield order on Amazon without
having heard much on mp3 before.
It has been more difficult for me to get into LP5 than
Confield.
Confield : 50 listens
LP5 : 100 listens
... to appreciate them as they should be...
good luck ;)

Autechre got me into this whole IDM scene
so if you ask me start your journey in the order of release

really?
lp5 was the first ae release i bought and i got into it on
the first listen. confield took a few more listens before i
truly appreciated its awesomeness (is that a word?).

the feeling you get when you’ve listened to a new ae album
over and over again and it all *suddenly* makes perfect
sense is unlike anything else. -sigh-

offline Combo from Sex on 2004-05-20 01:49 [#01196909]

Yeah LP5 was harder for me than Confield. On Confield i
immediately loved some tracks : Pen Expers, Eidetic Casein,
Parhelic Triangle but on LP5 none except maybe Drane2. I
first thought that tracks on LP5 like Acroyear2 or 777 were
always the same during 5 minutes then i realized that i had
to listen to them really carefully.
Nowadays i think both are really brilliant and -crazone, i
advice those two. But Tri Repetae, which is also awesome, is
definitely easier to get into Autechre's music.
