i'll take a listen but my connection a bit "meh" right now
so no guarantees.

actually, send as much as you can on that disc (perhaps as
data?) when you get around to sending it - so i can be up to
my eyeballs in d-steak!

by the way, you did get mine, righ?

Scovid - lots of reverb... hits you pretty heavy. First
thing I notice is all the sounds seem to be really, really
reserved... nothing in the foreground of the soundscape.
Synth overpowers everything.

All that extra reverb is making it sound really muddy. The
drums for the most part sound clean if they weren't so far
back. The sound that comes in after is interesting but goes
a little too long without a progression. Sounds kinda
random, not really well thought out.

There we go. The next synth that pans, that's a very nice
line. The progression off that is welcome although the pitch
bending down doesn't seem to fit very well. The piece
definitly gets better near the end. I like some of the
things you did with the synths and the delay.

Way too much reverb, take it out, maybe monitor it off
better speakers so you can hear it better and post it again.
All in all I think the piece is too random, it doesn't keep
my attention for too long, but some neat things happening in
there

Agreed Sanguine.

The reverb is a little nasty on some of those zap noises. I
haven't had a chance to get the revised cd to lacedmilk, but
I did take out some of that reverb on it.

Thanks for the listen guys, i appreciate it.

Check out Hidden Track 2 if you care, I think its one of the
nicest tracks I've made.

Yes Oddio, I did get your cd, been rockin to 8-bit breaks
lately tho.

I think the entire server is down now, 'cause I could only
listen to the first track earlier, and that's about the only
one you've gotten comments on.. I agree with the others
about reverb and stuff like that, but I can't comment on the
other songs right now, 'cause i just get "network error:
can't find http://www.lacedmilk.com/"

I'm downloading scovid like everyone else since you
mentioned that one first. I will be sure to blow your socks
off with an amazing reply momentarily.

heheheh, well since everyone is dawging on scovid, i'd
recommend trying hidden track 2, or bardiko even.

ill be the first to say that the quality of the songs aren't
perfect, I care more about keeping them interesting.

offline w M w from London (United Kingdom) on 2004-05-19 13:50 [#01196165]

The only real quality problem is different volumes of the
parts I think. Yeah, I like this as it keeps changing. It's
pretty entertaining and fairly simple. Things that keep
changing is one of the hardest things for me to make, maybe
one of the hardest to make software perform in general.

cool wMw, I really try to keep things moving along most of
the time, and usually keep the songs fairly short.

i like them much. very melodical... hey i really like your
stuff... if it only would be in bether quality !! you ahve
other links ??

hehe, the 56kps quality makes it sound like someone's left a
snare on in the background.

Bardiko: like the melody-synth sound, its
strange/attention-grabbing where the synth is coated in
reverb, but yet on some notes the reverb just cuts out.
A nice warm sound, maybe a bit obvious sounding at times,
but keeps changing so that is avoided :)

If you're going to put delay on synths watch out for their
EQ, if they are quite bass heavy then they may become too
muddy in the delay... when similar signals double eachother
they boost the bass by several db's. Just a few times i
noticed this - i always have to cut some bass when I double
track instruments/voices. Overall v.nice :)

Hidden Track #2: Really like the Organ sound you're
using! mmm organs! Had to listen to the start
twice :)
I like those "poingy" type noises, like hitting a milkbottle
or saucer which is full of water. definately gives it an
aquatic sound. Overall sound is like a lonely smiley face...
thats how i picture it. Nice and warm - like a friendly
hug.

hey thank you very much guys! i appreciate the constructive
criticism as well.

sadist - if youd like to hear anymore songs, go to
lacedmilk.com, click releases, click artist releases, click
atft.

The Concept of A Disciplined Mind LP is there, recommended
tracks would be Squareoctagenerial, Shadow the Dog, and
Fella's Raintrance.

Warm, melodic tracks. Nice. Why such a low bitrate (56/22)?
It gives special low-quality feeling, it slightly reminds me
tape records sound. Maybe kick is to strong in 'Scovid'. I
like these tracks - no loops, everything is flowing. I would
name them 'mushroom tracks'.

Want to know a secret?

Most of these tracks were made at least a year ago on the
playstation.

Thats right, on MTV Music Generator.

So we recorded them on an external cd burner, ran them
through Cubase, and there they are.

So that is the reason for them not having the best quality
in the world.
