So what about this film/documentary.. is it
really as disturbing as they say?
Frankly i'm quite curious about this 32 minutes short movie
since it's supposed to contain some interesting (yet
shocking probably) footage, and it gets good reviews
everywhere.

Director Francois Truffaut called it "the greatest film of
all time".
I wonder if anyone here has seen it and what they thought
about it.

thanks

i've never seen it, but i have seen multiple films by Alain
Resnais and Chris Marker, who are the two cinematic minds
behind its inception... having seen a few clips from it,
it's clear that this film bears similarities to stuff like
Last Year in Marienbad by Resnais... which means, in all
likeliness, that there is precious little, if anything in
the way of disturbing live action images... i couln't even
say for certain if they'd have still photos taken from the
holocaust... if it is disturbing, i would suspect it would
be purely so due to the emotional impact of Resnais'
haunting photography coupled with sombre poetic retelling of
whatever it is that he has to say about the holocaust...
you should definitely see it if you get the opportunity...

looks like it does contain pretty graphic material, if you read the comments at IMdb.

(and funny to see how some of the comments almost drip with
pretentiousness!)

I bought it a while ago and had a very hard time watching
it.

It contains photos, but also film fragments from the
holocaust and what was found in the concentration camps when
the war was over.
It's only 31 minutes, but it had more impact on me than all
I've read and seen about the holocaust alltogether.
