I can't believe you just reproduced the comments they put on
the cover.. I mean, like those ever tell you anything!

I have no idea what this is, btw. what is it? :)

well, since you don't trust my opinion, i thought, i'd post
those comments.

i guess it's rock music, can't think of any band quite like
this...perhaps a bit like my bloody valentine but way more
upbeat, and not so melancholic.

check song called "giga dance", wicked organ part in that
song...sounds so dark and funky at the same tume. excellent!

finally :)

btw, it's really excellent how much is happening in such a
short tracks...the overal play time is a little too short
though, that's the only bad thing about this album :)

don't like her voice.

this is nothing like that manual though :)

qrter, i didn't like her voice at first either, but once you
get used to it, it's great, goes excellent with the music
imo.

parts, actually they almost always pick the worst parts that
don't give you much idea of the actually music...ah
well...)

yes this album is awesome... satomi's voice takes a while to
get used to... but deerhoof is definitely one of the most
"worth-it" bands in rock for me... in the last three years
they have put out three stellar albums... check Reveille if
you haven't...

i've spoke praises of this band several times... people
usually don't listen (par for the course)...

as far as bands like deerhoof go... well i can't really
think of one that really sounds that close to what they are
doing but... well:

Blonde Redhead has a similar melodic sensibility with a bit
less punch and quirk... still good though
Broadcast is another band with a great combination of a
retro aesthetic with something simultaneously very new
sounding...
Black Dice is nice and fucked up... check recommendations in
the crazie rocke threade... there's a lot of cool bands mentioned
in that thread... all with a mind for awesomeness somewhat
outside the "rock box" so to speak... read up on them before
you check them though, because they are all very
different...

thanks!
im downloading black dice, broadcast isn't really my thing,
and i'll definitely check blonde redhead...and then some
more from that thread...

Okeydokes, I've listened to it once through and it's great.
It reminds me of Add n to X, Pixies, Max Tundra, Killdozer,
Tortoise, and engrish.com to name a few.

You should consider joining eMusic - they have all that 5
Rue Christine / Kill Rock Stars stuff, Matador, Mille
Plateaux, etc etc - lots of indie and electronic labels.
They're starting to get some 12k and Thrill Jockey in now
too. Everything's encoded as Lame --alt-preset standard (VBR
MP3s). I'm filling out my collection without going broke OR
ripping off small deserving labels.

that makes them quite unique, which is great...i mean all
those styles mixed together...

as for emusic-this is similar thing to bleep?
i kind of prefer to buy actual records...there's a very
small chance i'd listen to an album that i'd have only in
mp3's more than twice :) im like that, see :)

Kind of like bleep but much cheaper - $20 USD a month for 90
songs, so about 22 cents a song. You can also buy "booster
packs" if you max out your downloads before the month is
over.

I think it's just about the only music service that gets it
right - I don't know of any others offering high quality
un-copy-protected files for that price. And their catalog is
awesome, all great non mainstream stuff plus lots of jazz
and classical.

I listened to a Deerhoof album a while back, and the singing
was too much for me! Off the wall. ''Deerhoof'' is one of
the best band names I've ever heard, though.

like it better...maybe...im sharing it if you care to give
it a listen :)
