Fans of Wes Anderson movies such as Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenanbaums may not now that Devo Frontman, Mark Mothersbaugh composed the scores to almost all his films.

I've also got a few Devo vinyls too. Yes, Devo rocks!

I saw a variation of ''Whip It'' on TV, in a cleaning product ad. It sounds genuine... as in, the guy singing it is a dead ringer. Is it the actual band/vocalist?
Even if it is, that shame can't take away the fact that Duty Now for the Future is bodacious. Ever.

You mean Mark Mothersbaugh. I saw the ad, it was for Swiffer. (You must swiff it!). Being such a hardcore Devo fan I was kinda upset that Mothersbaugh would let them use it. Dont know if it was him singing, though it indeed did sound like Mothersbaugh.
It's definately possible. Check out Mark Mothersbaugh's company, Mutato Muzika which employs 4 of the devo crew. They're still alive! Making music and commercials. When you go to the Mutato site, click the "Play me!" text on the right of the screen to see his excellent work in commercials and movies.

devo may not own the rights to license the music. the commercial was a rerecording, not the original devo recording.
their first album is definitely the best, followed by "freedom of choice."
