I was ridiculing the deformed crying smiley, not you.

needless to say, the hierarchy of what
constitutes higher and inferior pleasures
is largely based on how far the pleasure
is judged to be from humping and the
more "primitive" state of people.

There's a little paradox here in
my opinion, since what seems to work
best in art is exactly nuances of sex-related
and fight/flight-reflex hormones: like love songs
(wildly popular) or punk music to release tension
or paintings of saints for the vatican, where
there's so much nude, or actually open vaginas
carved on the stone of european churches,
to cause a reaction (disgust) to the pious
17 century european christian for the
tool of the devil (woman).

weird how highly thought-of critics
and academics are in our
societies.. but it's understandable; we want
them to filter out the potentially harmful
"mature" thoughts.

"I was ridiculing the deformed crying smiley, not you."

I was ridiculing your avatar! for fun! not in self-defence.
:`) see I'm crying with joy now

come on admit it, it looks like an anal dildo, any way you
look at it.

If your brain is overrun with sex signals when viewing an
ant queen, then I would say you provide excellent
self-denigration without myself needing to exert any energy,
my dear over-sensitive defensive friend

I'm not dear!
and just because you are trying to flood
my innocent mind with sexually explicit
avatars and try to get away with it, doesn't
mean I'm over-sensitive.

by the way, the only way there is
to denigrate someone is to make THEM
feel belittled. if they don't, then they aren't.

but for the sake of humour, the invention
of which you haven't paid attention to,
I'll pretend you said something clever.

so you misunderstood that my short jesting post had nothing
to do with you, and then instead of admitting a simple
comprehension mistake flew into an egomaniacal fit of
concocted falsities and mindless repartee.

here's my suggestion: we both shut up and do something
useful.

you are just getting it wrong.
I seldom act in vengeance.
I had no reason whatsoever
to interpret your attack at the
smiley as a personal attack
to... whatever you're imagining
could insult me.

so I "insulted" you (and face it
finally, it looks like a dildo)
unprovoked.

on the other hand you could
shut up and do something useful.

Yeah I think some of the best art is tied in with our innate
fear of being eaten by predators. The wolf from the
neverending story is a great work of art to me in this way
:).

think so too.
but people aren't amused when
they go to a gallery with two
arms and a head and return
with half of either..

also painting isn't that strong
usually..
but the moving picture, literature,
music, they can nail you down..

do you have any theoretical suggestions
on how painting could go about
triggering stuff like that in the
viewer?
also, do you have any more
links like dance of the
dildos?
