Autechre & Drill & Bass

What is the earliest example of drill n bass in autechre's
discotogramography? Also, can anyone recommend any other
good drill & bass artists (I've listened to amon tobin,
aphex, animals on wheels, squarepush, kid 606, clifford
gilberto, venetian snares, plug)

Autechre and Drill'n bass have nothing to do in the same
sentence imo. But if you like drill'n bass i advice you :
Doormouse, Hrvatski and µ-zik for example.

definately uziq

Lunatic Harness

Royal Astronomy has a few good moments as well...ah, those
were such the glory days, getting those releases.

all.

i think you've probably got some mis-named mp3s.. autechre
have never gone near drill n bass..

offline nacmat on 2004-05-15 11:22 [#01189610]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker

the neares autechre was to drill and bass was with ep7 I
think

but really they dont do that

for drill n bass I would go for uziq, snares, mid 90s aphex
or squarepusher

drill n bass is something og the past I would say

Yeah I mean what's borderline drill&bass for AE ?

Acroyear from LP5 ?
Arch Carrier from LP5 ?
Cichli from Chiastic Slide and the entire Cichlisuite EP?
6ie.cr of Draft7.30?
laughing quarter from Envane?
Second Scout from Anvil Vapre?
gantz graf of gantz graf?
gelf from Peel2?

I can't see the whole Ep7 as something near D&B, it's just
too organic. Perhaps just liccflii .

There's still some cool beaty stuff, like inhake 2 from
Peel1,

Would Beefcake qualify as Drill? Some of their stuff surely
does (hote 2 for instance)

maybe you got that mu-ziq track, "autumn acid" mislabeled as
the ae remix of an aphex track. or something like that, i
can't remember how it went.

i know what ur talking about ambsace.. i got an ae - autumn
acid (Aphex twin remix) long time ago.. thought it was
weird.. and wen i got into ae i thought.. hey No way!

then ive forgot about that track.. think it was pretty nice
thou

Check Konlied MX yo.

I don't believe it's on any Autechre release, but it's
available on slsk I'm sure. That's about the closest trac to
'd&b' Autechre have produced, as far as I'm aware of.

offline pachi from yo momma (United States) on 2004-05-15 17:59 [#01190044]

Well, there's also Maphive 6.1 from EP7 and
Gaekwad from Peel Session 2, which closely resemble
the aforementioned style as well.

unfortunate you don't have any friends to go along with it.

What about acroyear2? Any thought on that? I don't know
exactly what drill 'n bass is but it's a highly gay name.

Or 'flutter', that's got some skittery sounds.

i'm checking out that Konlied Mx [unreleased] now.

I think the closest thing to Drill'n'Bass ae has done
is maybe doctrine or the Peel Session ep's and the
cichlisuite ep.

yeah, i'd definitely say that Under BOac has this off-kilter
drilly quality to it... incidentally, it is one of my
absolute favourite ae tracks...

Closest Ae has come to drill is "Flutter"...or, in a more
peculiar way, "Bine"...

Autechre is "Post-Techno, Mutant-Jungle, Ambient Noisecore"
now. Deal with it.

;)

i kind of doubt...there's just way too much decent music
beeing released that i don't want to miss, so i kind of
don't have time to listen to what doesn't sound good to me
after couple of listens...maybe though...

two ae remixes that come close, i guess:

lexis - hypnotise (from the radiomix)
kruton - smallfish pa.track 2

but then i'm hardly a drill n bass expert

i remember listening to konlied mx for the first time. i
bought that routine sampler for it. i remember being blown
away by it and then being disappointed it didn't go on for
another 20 minutes ;)

Konlied MX is on the warp-"routine" compilation: "Mid Priced
compilation sampler from 2001, made for the USA only.
Available to buy on warpmart only. Konlied Mx by Autechre is
exclusive to this album." Listen here
