Well, having never travelled to South Africa myself, I can only base it on my sample of 3 friends/acquaintances who are SA ex-pats. One of them was a girl whose best friend was black. One was a nasty bastard generally who seemed to have everyone, whites included and the other one was a "normal" bloke who doesn't seem in the least bit racist.
I suppose it might be argued that they possibly left becaus ehtey couldn't get along with all the other white SAs though and hence they aren't a good example.
