I can be in charge of this stage of precualification, as I
do the counting with excel

then you can be in charge of the final stage, with my help
of course

EVERYBODY REMEMBER:

pre qualification votes will start next monday, this way we
have plenty of time to elaborate a good list of idm artists
of our likings.

when you make your suggestions first take a look at the
lists I posted in the first posts (in one of the posts I
wrote an alphabetically ordered list)

also remember when voting begins (monday morning) that each
person will vote for 10 artists in order of preference:

1st choice = 10 points
2nd choice = 8 points
3rd choice = 6 points
4th choice = 4 points
5th choice = 3 points
6th choice = 2 points
the rest till 10th = 1 point

you have a maximum of 10 votes, but you can vote for any
number of artists bellow ten, so if you just feel like
voting for 4 artists then they will get points as I
explained above.

so, each member has a maximum of 10 votes.
the list of artists you can vote to be in the final will be
completed from now to sunday night (english timezone). and
only then will voting begin.

voting for precualification will last 5-7 day, depends on
how many people participate.

out of all the artists in the list (the list will be a
minimum of 70 artists and a maximum of 100) only 20 will
make it to the finals, the 20 more voted of course.

this way the final will be completed with 32 artists, that
will compete in 8 groups of 4 each, from here the first 2 of
each group will go onto the decisive stage: 1/8 finals, 1/4
finals...

good luck to everybody!
welcome to the third edition of the xltronic idm
championship 2004.

and remember the lazy aphex won the last two times, but last
time he had a hard fight in the final, and it was hard for
him to win

based on their 2003 releases? who did we listen to most in
2003?

Aphex Twin was the king in the last 2 edition, but he had
great fights in the grandfinal first against Squarepusher
(2002) and then against Autechre (2003).
Now it's a lot of time who Richie don't release new stuff,
so he's losing consenses...
Will be him able to win another championship this year too?
Who will be in the grandfinal in this edition?

it's a great idea... i think he's just sad that last year's
list probably won't change very much, if at all...

he released superb smojphace in 2003 didn't he?? he
definitely gets my vote for that crap :)

so long as i get to see full voting results i will be
happy... it'd be interesting to see the list when all the
skam/rephlex/mu/warp stuff is ignored (not to mention the
fact that it will be interesting to see which artists on
those big labels are most preferred...)

people have to vote considering what they feel, they like
the best

after if people want we can do a competition of 2003-2004
albums

I think this year the pusher can win, and for sure venetian
snares will do better than 16th (last year position)

Important: For celebrate the Grand Final 2004 better, I will
bring the final match to the "Official Xltronic Weekly Poll
Section".

Points: 50073 Status: Moderator | Followup to nacmat: #01183622

yeah, definitely...pusher was probably my favourite this
year...squarewindow, ultravisitor, breezeblock set...no one
can match that...and he's on warp :)

that idea about album would be nice as well!

offline WooferAttack from Milano (Italy) on 2004-05-12 02:09 [#01183632]
Points: 12920 Status: Lurker

yeah, probably I will change my vote this year too and fav
is Squarepusher, 'cos I will give an eye to last release.
Ultravisitor is really cool, while I'm disappointed with
Smojphace and with Aphex Twin, 'cos it's too much time who
he doesn't release new stuff.
Same for Boards of Canada... after Geogaddi... nothing...
:-/

In this edition my votes will go to musicians who released
good stuff in the last periods.

it would be great if you could do polls for semifinals and
final

like the "xltronic final four"

offline nacmat on 2004-05-12 02:35 [#01183678]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker | Followup to nacmat: #01183669

hey woofer, what about after the first league (1/32) we do
another league:

4 groups of 4 and only the first 4 go onto the "final four"

??
just an idea, but I also like the classic way

offline WooferAttack from Milano (Italy) on 2004-05-12 02:56 [#01183735]
Points: 12920 Status: Lurker | Followup to nacmat: #01183678

yes, it could be a good idea, maybe a change to xltronic
championship could be good for competition.

about semifinals and finals on xltronic weekly poll, it
could be possible, anyway first is better that i ask to my
boss (phobiazero) if he's agree ;)

offline nacmat on 2004-05-12 03:21 [#01183787]
Points: 31271 Status: Lurker | Followup to WooferAttack: #01183735

then if we agree, this will be next year´s championship
format:

prequalification:
70-100 artists ------------ 20 will make it to the final
stage

final stage:
20 from pre-stage + 12 already qualified (the first 12 in
last year´s edition)

first league: (1/32 finals)
8 groups of 4 each----------- first two in each group go to
1/16 finals

second league: (1/16 finals)
4 groups of 4 each----------- only first in each group will
make it to the great: FINAL FOUR

FINAL FOUR:
with the classical semifinals and final, if possible these
will be via official xltronic polls

cool, i like it...

anyway it will be really a demanding job for us, nacmat :)

dont worry, the first stage is the hardest one, for counting
votes, and with excel its really easy

but yes, we will have to give this a lot of time, I hope we
can.

first 8 last year can be the leaders of each group in the
first league of the final

so the groups will go like this: (numbers are the position
of rtists after the voting, so aphex is 1, and from 12 to 32
the numbers will be earned with the position after the votes
in the pre-stage)

group a: 1, 16, 24 and 32
group b: 2, 15, 23, 31
group c: 3, 14, 22, 30
group d: 4, 13, 21, 29
...
...
group h: 8, 9, 17, 25

see, it was really important who the first 12 were last
year, cos it can mean lots of problems for some top artists
from the first moment.

also the pre-stage voting will determine lots of things, as
being first in the pre stage will mean an easy group maybe,
but being the 20th will mean to be in group A with aphex

understand?
