You know, I really really really want to buy the newest
albums by Sade, and Enya... seriously though, it's beautiful
stuff... That song By You Side is so touching, and Only Time
is beautiful... anyone else like that stuff?

FreakyNinoBrown from usass on 2002-01-04 03:50 [#00066006]

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...no

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-04 04:07 [#00066011]

yea, buy sade's "lovers rock" album. she is a wonderful
singer and that album is fantastic. stay away from enya tho,
her music is rubbish.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-04 05:23 [#00066029]

I think I'd like Enya... I might pick it up... and yeah,
Sade has an awesome voice... her music is very laid back,
and relaxing...

jupitah from Minneapolis on 2002-01-04 06:33 [#00066057]

Sade is nice. I really like Enya. I have Shepherd's Moon
and the latest one. Both are wonderful and everything else
I've heard is good. Mystery of Trees should be hear.

jupitah from Minneapolis on 2002-01-04 06:34 [#00066058]

heard.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-04 06:39 [#00066061]

you know, it's all just a matter of opinion... and I do
respect peoples opinions, that's cool... I pretty much love
everything, and anything... any types of music... even
Country, not the new "pop" country crap... that is the most
horrible music ever, but older stuff like Johnny Cash and
stuff... that's cool... people shouldn't restrict their
tastes to particular genres, and I'm not saying anyone here
necessarily does that, I'm just saying that everyone should
listen to music that actually touches them personally...
that's what counts as a good song, or album in my books...
anyways, enough philosophizing for me...

Ouakha from the end of time on 2002-01-04 10:59 [#00066107]

Weird! this board attracts so many different opinions! Half
the time I am amazed at the narrow-mindedness evident in
some posting but then along comes one like this ...

I don't like Sade. My opinion is that her music is too
commercial (i.e. the music is not the end in itself). If you
want to name a female singer with good vocals try Sinead
O'Connor. Not a single other singer can compete with her
voice (or public image!!) except maybe Bjork.

Chrispy from UK on 2002-01-04 11:02 [#00066109]

I love Enyas old stuff better.

But gimme a bit of Sianade O'Conner anyday!

^v^

Chrispy from UK on 2002-01-04 11:03 [#00066110]

Damn. I think I spelt her name wrong... poor girl.

zetre on 2002-01-04 22:21 [#00066238]

Sade is truly amazing in every way, Lovers Rock is a great
album. LOVE IT!

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-05 03:10 [#00066316]

maybe you're right about enya. it always seemed a little
fruity to me, but maybe it's just a song or two i didn't
dislike. i'm downloading a couple mp3's from "the memory of
trees", maybe i'll like them. i won't deny she has a good
singing voice. sinead is also great, i've never had much of
a problem with her. i'm gonna play something by her pretty
soon on my radio show when it starts back up for spring
semester. i played a lot of bjork (one of my fav's) and some
sade this past fall, juxtaposed with some very very
different music. check out my playlists =) i'm going to
have an afternoon slot this upcoming semester, so i have an
even wider audience to spread my madness!

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-05 06:21 [#00066342]

good mix there man... I'd enjoy that show...

DJCJ from CT, USA on 2002-01-05 08:28 [#00066399]

If you dont like pop, you dont like everything...then again,
pop is nothing...so maybe you DO like everything...lol

teapot from brisbane on 2002-01-05 10:25 [#00066405]

my mate looked at me in utter confusion before... "One
minute your listening too confield and the next your
listening too Nelly Furtado... WTF is wrong with you"

yeah.

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-05 10:34 [#00066407]

it's always made bloody good sense to me, as you can tell
from the playlists above... my dream was to play neil young
-> wu-tang -> autechre, but the wu-tang has too many bad
words for broadcast

Dirty Priest from Denmark on 2002-01-05 11:42 [#00066409]

Sade is like the female barry white mind. if you´re at some
chicks house and sade is put on, you know whats gonna go to
go on. nudge nudge. well. shes ok i guess. KENNY ROGERS
RULE!!!!!

Chapman from UK on 2002-01-05 14:17 [#00066416]

anyone heard any of Afro Celt Soundsystem's stuff?

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-05 15:36 [#00066425]

I like some pop stuff... pop meaning that it's played on the
radio, not the bubblegum pop crap... that's where I draw the
line... but bands like Toto, and I guess U2 and The Police
and all that can be called pop... I even have starships
greatest hits... and I love 80's pop music... some of it
anyways...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-05 15:37 [#00066426]

yeah yeah, Afro Celt... I love that song When You're
Falling... cause it has Peter Gabriel singing, duh... but
yeah, I've been meaning to pick up the album... supposedly
it's like a mixture or celtic, african, and dance or
something?

Chapman from UK on 2002-01-05 15:38 [#00066427]

yup, got it in 1! i have one of their albums, but wouldnt
mind picking up some more..... their work is a totally
original sound which just hits a spot

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-05 17:53 [#00066444]

oh my goodness, there is too much music to buy!!!!!!! and my
harddrive isn't big enough to store many
MP3's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 BLAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

nene on 2002-01-05 19:11 [#00066463]

sade always sounds like she has a cold. why do I find that
attractive? discuss.

zetre on 2002-01-05 23:42 [#00066528]

titsworth: fucking nice selection most of that! sort of the
way I would have done it if I could..

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-06 22:16 [#00066711]

it's actually not that hard to get a show, depending on what
school you go to. the big public universities it's somewhat
of a battle, but if you go to a smaller school, such as a
liberal arts college, the stations are practically begging
for dj's. i wrote this 2 page letter w/ a sample playlist to
help my case and no one else did anything like that, and
everyone who wanted a show got one regardless of how shitty
their taste in music is. so i urge you to look into it if
you're in college cos it's really a lot of fun and it's easy
to get a slot.

natrix from zürich on 2002-01-06 22:37 [#00066714]

@funkmaster
good statement at the begin of this topic,
i listen to many different music genres too. few are more
interesting and others are less interesting, that's a point,
but generally, it's easyer to understand opinions of other
people when you listen to different genres

Ceri JC from My house in Pontypridd, Wales, UK on 2002-01-06 22:52 [#00066715]

One of my friends DJs on the Bradford University Radio
station. He plays some good stuff, but nothing like boards
of canda or aphex twin. If I had a show I'd play lots of
little known stuff, whats the point of radio if it's to hear
stuff you've heard before? If that's what you want why not
just put the track on your hi-fi?

I'd like to have a show like John Peel (Radio 1 - UK) or
steve lamaq. Even though they both annoy me, they have some
good music on.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-07 02:28 [#00066752]

yeah, I like basically all genres of music, but some I find
more interesting then others, etc... like right now I'm
totally into electronica...

Xanatos from NYC on 2002-01-07 02:37 [#00066754]

Or maybe electronica is totally into you...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-07 03:07 [#00066760]

Oh babee, I never thought of that... oh my... :)

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-08 02:19 [#00067107]

if you like Sinead O'Connor, you should check out Us by
Peter Gabriel... she sings back-up on a few of the tracks...
and it really melds well with Peter Gabriel's voice I
think...
