Drukqs just isn''t good.

Huge on 2002-01-03 23:49 [#00065968]

All the humour and innovation from Aphex's other releases
are missing. Flame away but what's next?

Xanatos from NYC on 2002-01-04 00:02 [#00065969]

I respect your opinion, but just don't make a new thread
about it. Type drukqs in the search box and post this to
one of the several other threads of the same sort.

Also you are a moron drukqs is great.

Actually no, it is far from his best release. I should
rephrase that. Drukqs is great electronic music. Not great
Aphex Twin.

What's next? A baby,i believe...}:>

Huge on 2002-01-04 00:27 [#00065976]

Yeah sorry, I didn't read all the posts......I just wondered
what people thought now they've had chance to listen to it
properly....I'm glad you find something in it that pleases
you.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2002-01-04 02:57 [#00065990]

I like it, but it's definately not his best in my opinion...
it's better then most stuff around, but when you compare it
to ICBYD, and The RDJ album is just doesn't compare... but
still, I'd still probably rank it as the third best Aphex
release... so that's pretty good...

titsworth_courier from washington, dc on 2002-01-04 04:07 [#00066010]

it's your loss if you don't love the new album like so many
of us.

You might say your mother gives shitty head, but I don't
agree...

Humor is great, but it's never been the reason for my
enjoyment of Aphex. RDJ's music moves me and Drukqs does as
much as any of his other releases. I am clueless as to what
else people expected from him. The music is fucken raw and
delicious.

DJCJ from CT, USA on 2002-01-04 08:23 [#00066084]

I dont really think about bests...but everytime I listen to
it (or any RDJ work) I increasingly appreaciate his talent.
Not only is it technical talent but its also artistic
talent...He's good on many different ranges...more than
good...
And drukqs aint bad at all...quite good material.

Despite Druqks not being his best album I still think its on
of Aphex Twin´s finer works.
Richard D. James revealed in an interwiew with the icelandic
"Undirtonar" music mag this album was going to be very
old-school so its maybe normal it doesnt live up to its
enourmous expectation. He told he had written about 400 new
tracks and because he lost one of his macintosh laptop
computers(which contained about 200 new songs) on a plane he
wanted to put this album out so fast before someone would
rip him off and put the whole thing on the internet!! Later
in the interwiew he said that he had written a lot of songs
that sound like nothing heard before in music so I dont
think we have to worry about him loosing his magic touch. I
just guess his next album will be the the best ever.......

Very good information, addi.

Archrival on 2002-01-04 10:46 [#00066103]

"humour and innovation".

balthus from europe on 2002-01-04 10:49 [#00066104]

i think aphex's eps are his best works -not his albums -
with the exceptions of selected ambient works vol2 and...
drukqs. and there's a lot of humour in drukqs but it's more
hidden and darker... and more mature.

Archrival on 2002-01-04 10:50 [#00066105]

I like his serious side much, much, much more (ofcourse I
love his silly too like Fingerbib, Windowlicker and Funny
little man).

But the best track he ever made are his more serious ones
like Rhubarb, Lichen, Alberto Balsalm, Vordhosbn, Ogyija
Switch, Flim, Nanou2, Nannou, The Beaty Of Being Numb,
Jynwhetek, Kesson Dasslef etc etc imo :)

balthus from europe on 2002-01-04 11:02 [#00066108]

archrival - yes, his more serious tracks are great, i'm also
a great fan of the tracks you mentioned, fantastic pieces.

some of the greatest things in drukqs are his piano pieces,
they're really awesome... bekhu3epnm, kesson dalef, prep
gwarlek 3b, petiatil cx htdui, ruglen holon, nanou2. they're
original and new, they're serious, funny and beautiful at
the same time, as good as the best pieces in 20th century
piano music. would be great if there would be an ep. on the
new label only with piano pieces by aphex (and also with
some more complicated ones). at the same time there are
beautiful electronic tracks on drukqs like mt st michel,
gwely mernans, meltphase6 and gwarek2...

Chrispy from UK on 2002-01-04 11:08 [#00066111]

I love all those tracks too!!!!

I slightly disagree (I dont know how I SLIGHTLY dissagree
but I do alright!) about Drukqs though. I think the fast
ones make the album. The piano pieces are ok but its the
tracks Meltphace, Afx237 V7, Vordhosbn and Cock/ver10 that
make it IMHO.

Sorry, but someone can explain to me the meaning of IMHO,
please?
Remember who I'm Italian and I'm curious to know...

balthus from europe on 2002-01-04 11:51 [#00066117]

woofer - IMHO means 'in my humble opinion'.

balthus from europe on 2002-01-04 12:00 [#00066118]

chris , and that's exactly the nice thing about drukqs - you
can make your own album with the favourite tracks. it's not
just listening through an album, but choosing tracks,
discovering tracks. i really like that about it (i really
would have enjoyed the 4CD version of that album!). i only
recently 'discovered' meltphace, and it's now one of my
favourite tracks of drukqs. maybe it says a lot more about
the listener than about the album which tracks are the
favourites. perhaps all tracks are equally great. some would
say, no, 'drukqs isn't just good', but i say it is just a
masterpiece.

Chrispy from UK on 2002-01-04 14:04 [#00066133]

Your right Balthus... I also feel that with the other
tracks, the album wouldnt be that special. It breaks it up
in a way that makes some of the tracks truely amazing to
dive into.

If you listen to your favourite over and over, it can lose
it's edge a little but with the other tracks involved in the
Drukqs album; tracks like Vordhosbn and Ziggomatic V17
(Launch all Zigs) never lose it!

Yeah!

Chrispy from UK on 2002-01-04 14:06 [#00066134]

I CANT MAKE UP MY MIND!!!!!!!!! ARRRRGHRGRHARGHRGHH!!!!!!
