working with marc ribot again too!!!

"Tom Waits has been holed up in an old school house in
Mississippi, recording a new album, titled Real Gone for
Anti. “Because,” according to Waits, “there’s
nothing quite like fresh material…all new tunes by
Kathleen Brennan and myself to come out this fall.” Real
Gone is primal rhythmic blues featuring Waits on vocal mouth
percussion, Larry Taylor (veteran of Waits recordings since
1980’s Heartattack & Vine) on bass and guitar, Mark Ribot
(first collaboration since their classic pairing for
1985’s Raindogs) on guitar and tres, Brain Manita (Primus,
Buckethead and the most recent Guns N’ Roses tour) on
drums, Casey X. Waits on percussion and turntables, Les
Claypool (Primus) on electric bass and Harry Cody on guitar
and banjo. Engineered by Mark Howard (Bob Dylan, Lucinda
Williams, Iggy Pop) and produced by Waits/Brennan.
“Feelin’ good about it all. Songs about politics, rats,
war, hangings, dancing, automobiles, pirates, farms, the
carnival and sinning. Mama, liquor, trains and death. In
other words, the same ‘ol dirty business!”

Whoo! ''Primal rhythmic blues''... that sounds inviting.
That album will make me even manlier.

i was kind of hoping that rumour about him and massive
attack doing an album together was true...but, then again,
any new album of his is very appreciated!

..on which label?

Island didn't renew his contract, as far as I know.

"Waits on vocal mouth percussion" sounds good!

woo-hoo!!! yay for waits yaya for waits!

anti records is a label that has "great artists making great
music by their own terms." they also have guys like merle
haggard and solomon burke - legendary folk.

yet? :)

it's available now!! not studio recording though...

i wonder if that turntable scratching is going to be there
in the final version...it was said turntables are going to
be used, but i didn't think they'd use them this way :)
ribbot is excellent guitar (at least it sounds much like
him)... tom's vocals are even more wicked than on his last
two albums...real devilish :)

well, del naja is my favourite ma member... as far as i know
he does all the music too :)

i love this classic waits style...doing his thing, it's
great!

well, i liked ma and what they did with blue lines, wich be
all means is not just del naja who i think has managed to
take out any hip hop element there was in the band out. wich
i find a shame... i know he did a lot on mezzanine wich i
like. but that newer one ain't in my collection even though
i have all the albums and the singles "draw with with your
warm hands" box. we'll see...

what's mushroom up to i wonder...

im glad to see daddy g is back though...i hope he'll do
vocals on their new album.
as for mushroom...wasn't there some rumour about a solo
album? although im not sure if that was before or after he
was sent to jail :)

hmm, that be nice...it would sound more dubby and trippy i
think, and that's always nice.

i just hope we don't have to wait for 4 or 5 years for the
new one.

haven't downloaded all the tracks from you, but the larger
part I have now heard..

this sounds like great stuff!

"hoist that rag" is wonderful. and mr Waits is beatboxing
crappily again. :)

actually I like the lo-fi sound of these mp3s..!

I have a few live Waits shows btw.

sometimes the sound is pretty shitty, but it's funny to hear
him talking inbetween the songs with that raspy voice. : )

ah i looked at the filesizes of yours and mine, they are
identical.

i thought i was downloading different ones, cause they were
named differently.

and i can't really check for quality cause my speakers won't
work, i just burned it but i only have a very shitty stereo
here.

but i'm uploading it to my minidisc right now, so i'll get a
good idea of the quality when it's done.

anyway:
