Current Fave Film Scores

Here we are once more dwelling on movie scores. I did a
search for my old topic, but couldn't be bothered trawling.
Anyway, recently I've been very much enjoying the following
scores:

01) The Fog
02) They Live
03) Suspiria
04) City of the Living Dead
05) Zombi (Dawn of the Dead '78)

Of course, I have my other favourites, like The Italian Job
'69, 2001, The Shining, The Goonies etc.

Aliens
Alien3
Donnie Darko
The Crow
Dark City
Natural Born Killers
Tron
Fight Club

there's probably more, but i just can't think of them all at
the moment

Shichinin no Samurai (Seven Samurai) was the most recent
film I've seen under this category.

I'm interested in checking out more cult films I haven't yet
touched upon, such as Donnie Darko, Blade Runner, Dawn of
the Dead (1978), and several others.

I did see Fight Club a couple years ago, but I don't think I
understood it well enough, so I'll have to watch that one
again.

Wasn't it the American Dust Brothers who did the soundtrack
to Fight Club, not the british Chemical Bros?

It's funny you mention Aliens, because I thought the music
was badly done for that film!

I love all the John Carpenter soundtracks, The Fog,
Halloween, The Thing, Assault on Precinct 13... I like
Tangerine Dream´s "Near Dark" soundtrack. The Aliens
soundtrack I recall being very spooky, a friend of mine had
it on tape and we used to listen to it in the dark, drinking
Barley Wine and Tizer...innocent days.

I'd love to hear that Zombi Dawn of the Dead 78 soundtrack,
any chance it's on slsk...?

i think the aliens soundtrack is my favourite

i was watching carlito's way yesterday and i really love the
music part in the end of the movie when he's trying to get
away from those mobs trying to kill him. it adds so much
tension to the scene

Yes it was the American dust brothers. I got confused about
that too at first.

Blue Velvet!!! The Candy-Coloured-Clown... fookin freaky.

Donnie Darko has a quality soundtrack (despite that bloody
tears for fears cover that became all teenybopperey).Solaris
is my personal favourite... a beautiful example of how
electronic and classical music can work together. Requiem
for a Dream also has some beautiful bits by the Kronos
Quartet.

Lost in Translation sountrack seemed to work perfectly also.

cheers, i´ll have a browse... I was reminded of it other
day, when it was mentioned in connection to that new Shaun
of the Dead film, such a great soundtrack (the Goblin one).

Their other work is great, also - I have Profondo Rosso and
Roller, & most of Suspiria (used to have it but lost it)...
I'm also getting a couple of their less known works. On the
J.C. front, I currently have The Fog, Halloweens I, II, and
III, and They Live. I also used to have Dark Star and
Assault on Precinct 13.

*sobs* i can't browse your files. I guess it's cause i am a
slsk gayer. There's a couple of other people with the Zombi
one so i'll harvest their wares.

I've been having real problems with SLSK the past few days -
I can't even browse my own files, and most of my downloads
initialise then fail. Really frickin' sucks, cos I'm anxious
to hear this Goblin!

i thought the same for ravenous, the music and film went
together so well to give it a creepy mood

for stand alone music that makes you revisit the feelings of
the film, i'd be hard put to find anything as vivid as a
clockwork orange. a rather bizarre collection of
odd/manic/brilliant music that can be enjoyed even if you
havent seen the film.

Burwell's workload increased steadily as the '90s
progressed, and he began taking on more mainstream film
projects: Doc Hollywood (1991), Wayne's World 2 (1993), and
Airheads (1994).

The donnie darko score is very nice.
I also love the main theme form requiem for a dream.
I find that alot of film scores are quite often forgetable.
